Rating: Summary: Definitely NOT perfect ... Review: "Holiday in Death" is the seventh book in J.D. Robb's "In Death" series, and not one I would recommend for someone who just wants to give the series a try. If that is your case, please make yourself a favour, and read the first book in the series, "Naked in death". That book is excellent, and will give you such a good introduction to the main characters that you will enjoy the rest of the books in the series much more :)
Now, if you are still reading this review I must suppose that you already have read that book, and so you know what the "In death" series is about: a very good cop (Eve), her unlikely husband (Roarke), and the crimes they somehow end up solving together. Of course, by summing up the series in such succinct manner I leave aside a lot of the details that make the series so good but then, if I want to be concise I have to sacrifice something: nothing is perfect :)
"Holiday in death" definitely isn't perfect either. The plot is pretty simple: it is almost Christmas time, and Lieutenant Eve Dallas not only has to buy presents for her loved ones (she hates shopping!!!), but also to deal with a killer who dresses up as Santa Claus, rings the doorbell of his victims and kills them. The only link between the victims is a dating service, and so Eve decides some undercover work is in order to catch the killer, before he continues with his "special" way of celebrating Christmas. Officers Peabody and Mc Nabb will be the undercover agents, and also the protagonists of a secondary storyline that the fans of the series have been waiting for some time :)
I certainly cannot say that this is my favourite book in the series. Despite that, and strangely enough, I DO RECOMMEND IT. Why?. Well, because it has more than average "entertainment value", if you like to mix suspense, a bit of romance and an interesting futuristic spin. I want to point out, though, that the crime scenes that all the books in the series have are specially horrific in "Holiday in death", so please don't read it if you can't stand gory scenes. I don't like them, and that is the reason why I gave this book 3 stars instead of at least 4, but that's your decision to make, after weighing the pros and cons of giving "Holiday in death" a try...

Rating: Summary: Loved it. A Fabulous Read! Review: "Holiday in Death" is the seventh book in J.D. Robb's futuristic "In Death" series, and it is wonderful! Lieutenant Eve Dallas is working a new case, as patrons of an exclusive dating service, "Personally Yours," become victims of a serial killer during the Christmas season. Eve uncovers some dark secrets involving the owners and clients of Personally Yours, which may be motives for murder. This mystery is suspenseful and thrilling and sure to satisfy! "Holiday in Death" is an intricately woven tale of murder and mayhem, passion and true love. Robb paints incredibly lush and vivid characters with admirable insight. Eve and her handsome billionaire husband, Roarke, are a fantastic couple. Roarke is every woman's dream, and watching the passion and tenderness between him and Eve is highly rewarding for the reader. Robb has created a series full of intrigue and excitement, and as long as she continues to write about Eve and Roarke, she will have a fan in me. I highly recommend this book, and the rest of the series. Put the phone off the hook and settle in for the night with this book, because once you start, you won't be able to stop!
Rating: Summary: SEVEN DOWN, CAN'T WAIT FOR NUMBER EIGHT! Review: As always, J.D. (alias Nora Roberts) Robb continues to entertain and surprise with this latest in her "Death" series. Watching Eve's emotional growth catch up with her laser edged, cop brain has been a lot of the fun in this series. I hope the author continues allowing Eve and Rourke to deepen their marriage relationship beyond their current sexual frenzy. Not that getting steamy with them hasn't been a kick. It's just time to add a new ingredient to the marital cocktail that Ms. Robb has already shaken and stirred. Peabody is a delight, and I'd like to see her develop a little more too. Of course, none of us can ever get enough of Rourke. These two characters who couldn't possibly be right for each other, have turned out to be absolute perfection together. Since life rarely works out this way, isn't it fun to read a little futuristic, romantic mystery and discover how much fun it is to escape reality. Thanks for another fun read, J.D.
Rating: Summary: "In Death"s 7th book is the best yet! Review: Christmas 2058 proves to be as intriguing as ever as the next of the "In Death" serier continues. I found it hard to put this one down once I picked it up (as with the other six). Eve and Roarke's relationship continues to mature (when do we get to have a little Roarke or Eve?); maybe something's finally going to happen between Peabody and McNab; the future seems to be full of more murders; and, with the technology that seems to be available, I'd like to order a clone of Roarke for myself! Can't wait for future books in the series.
Rating: Summary: J.D.Robb hits a satisfying triple as always. Review: Count on Nora Roberts to deliver as J.D. Robb. They're all good ... when is the next due? Sign me up....
Rating: Summary: DEFINITE KEEPER!!!! Review: Every entry in this series leaves me longing for the next. J.D. Robb (aka Nora Roberts) has created the most appealing, adventurous series heroine since Modesty Blaise (penned by Peter O'Donnell). And Roarke --- sigh. . . . The only problem is I'm wearing out my copies rereading them and it's cruel to be teased by the foretaste of the next book that always appears in the back.... Keep writing, Nora!
Rating: Summary: Even the Holiday Season attracts Killers.... Review: Holiday In Death is another great addition to this thrilling series. Not only is it Eve and Roake's first Christmas together but there is a serial killer running around. A serial killer who dresses up like Santa Clause, is very neat and tidy and uses "The Twelve Days of Christmas " as his theme. The suspense in this series just keeps getting better. I never know the "who done it " until the very end. This is an excellent installment.
Rating: Summary: Great, Great GREAT BOOK Review: How can an author write 7 fantastic books in order. All other authors usually throw one in that's not all that hot. But Ms. Robb is right on the money on ALL these books. I started Conspiracy in Death this morning. I saw that one got 35 5* ratings, so it's got to be another great one. I hate to see this series end. I hope she keeps it going. One thing that surprises me though is that Dallas is not pregnant yet. It's certainly not from trying. Well, I have to end because I have to go read #8 of this series. Be sure to pick up a copy of this one. You won't be sorry.
Rating: Summary: Dallas does it again!! Review: I cannot say enough about JD Robb and the "Death" series. I anxiously peruse the bookstores the minute I know a new sequel is due for release. I love the relationship between Dallas and Roarke and the way Eve seems to grow and her character gain more depth in each book. I wish that Peabody and McNabb would get together already, though. The constant bickering is beginning to wear thin. I would like to see Eve and Roarke maybe adopt a child and Somerset should loosen up. He can be a pain!! But, all in all, I think that Ms. Roberts, as usual, has a winner with this series.
Rating: Summary: A definite page-turner Review: I devoured this book while dining alone at a Benningan's Restaurant to the point I almost skipped their to-die-for Death by Chocolate...One of the best so far in the series. It's a welcome change to see the increased focus on Peabody, though I could've done without Mavis. I also enjoyed how, even with futuristic technology, the search for the perfect date continued...Buy it and you won't be disappointed.Probably the best part I like about this series is the fact that you need not read the previous ones to enjoy the current release. Each is capable of standing alone, though, like any other series, previous reading adds impact to the various undercurrents.
