Rating: Summary: Cradle and All Review: One of the worst books I have ever read. I hope a good author like James Patterson has not prostituted himself in his quest to make a buck. I threw the book away as I could not bring myself to give it to another reader.
Rating: Summary: Not typical for Patterson Review: I've just finished Cradle and All and was very disappointed. I always enjoy reading Patterson's book and looked forward to this one with great anticipation. This was just too far-fetched for me. I especially did not enjoy the ending. Please Patterson, write more like Kiss the Girls!
Rating: Summary: Not Your Typical Patterson Review: I've read all of the Patterson novels to date and have been very diappointed with two of his most recent ones: Cradle And All, and When The Wind Blows. They are just too far fetched. Maybe he just fails to make it believable. In Cradle, the details are fairly skimpy and he could have spent more time developing certain parts to make the novel seem more believable. Seems like he gets caught up with keeping his chapters to 2 pages regardless of whether he gets his points accross. I'm looking forward to the next Cross novel.
Rating: Summary: I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN! Review: Having read all of James Patterson's previous books, I was looking forward to this read. The book grabbed on the first page and would not let me go. You have to remember it is a piece of fiction. His other books seem to sum up more completely. But this was very different subject material. I also believe that it helps to be a Catholic to feel some of the emotions the book envoked. It would have been more scarey if the Church had not recently made an announcment about one of the key points in the book. (I hate to give away too much of the plot!) I would give all of Mr. Patterson's books a 4 or 5.
Rating: Summary: Disappointment ! Review: Gee, I wish I had taken a moment to read the customer reviews. Please know this book is not the usual wonderful James Patterson novel. All authors will ususally write that one "turkey" book, and I am afraid this one fits the bill. It is a quick, lackluster read and I kept turning the page, hoping it would improve. But it didn't, so save your money for this hardcover novel and wait for the paperback, if you want to give it a try. This was quick easy money at the expense of his loyal readers.
Rating: Summary: Waste of paper Review: This is a piece of literary trash. Unfortunately you can read the whole thing just to see if there is any point to it. And when you come to the end it is so ludicrous it makes you angry that you wasted all that time. The wasted pages just to fill a hardcover is a sham in itself. He has pulled this trick in other recent novels. I will never read a book of his again no matter what the "professionals say".
Rating: Summary: Incredible, exciting thriller Review: This is my first Patterson book and I read through it at break neck speed! I could not put this book down! I was intrigued from page one and my intrigue would not let me go. Each chapter left you hanging and one needed to quickly read the next and the next . . . !I tried to guess who was the "real" virgin and who was the woman carrying Satan - but my mind was blown at the end. This tale involves two mysterious virgin births, murders, an ex-nun as a private investigator, the Vatican's representative on phenomena, a priest, a cardinal, and THE voices, affecting more than one character here, as well as the devil's involvement. Phew! I was kept guessing until the very end and I never would have imagined the shocker of an ending! What I want to know is - when is the sequel coming out! This was one heck of a thriller and I found it to be a very quick read, very entertaining and as I said - I was kept hanging and guessing. I tend to disagree with the other "negative" reviewers. I really enjoyed this book. I would also like to see this made into a movie! I highly recommend this book and I will now have to seek out other books by this author!
Rating: Summary: Cradle and All into the Garbage Review: I have never read a James Patterson book before and will never waste my money on another one. It was full of filthy language and disgustingly graphic sex. I took the audio version on a trip to listen to as the miles went by and by the end of the 2nd tape I dumped it into the next rest area garbage can. It really gagged me and after thinking that things might improve, I could stand no more. Wish I had read some of the customer reviews before spending the money.
Rating: Summary: Pleased but confused Review: I have been reading books by James Patterson for years, and have enjoyed almost every novel I open. I am an enthusiastic reader, and was pleased with "Cradle and All"; however, I have something I wanted Mr. Patterson to be made aware of. I have read an almost duplicate of this novel about a year and a half ago. The details of the novel were extremely close if not exactly like it, with only a few differences. I had checked it out in the library, and am unsure of the authors name, so what I wanted to know was if this book had been published under a different name, and if so what is that name. I hope this does not come as a shock to you, but I thought that if you didn't know about it, then you should. Respectfully submitted
Rating: Summary: Disappointing! Review: What a disappointment! I bought the "newest" James Patterson book eager to read the next of his fascinating and challenging stories. I was unhappy that it wasn't an Alex Cross novel, but I was willing to give it a chance. Well, I read it, but I can't believe it! I feel cheated. This "novel" could only have grown out of a parochial education and a juvenile fixation on "The Exorcist." I think Mr. Patterson decided to take the year off, but allowed his publisher to issue a "reworked" story - making money on his established named, but definately NOT considering his readers. I'm sorry for anyone whose first introduction to James Patterson was Cradle and All. If it was my first, it would also be my last.
