Rating: Summary: Cradle and All by James Patterson Review: The theme of this book is not believable. The characters are not believable. The story is not believable, and the fact that Patterson assumes we will all fall for the fairy tale he has written is stupid. He leaves the ending hanging, for a second book (I hope not). I would not recommend this book to anyone, and it has put me off James Patterson forever.
Rating: Summary: Another great one from Patterson Review: This was another great work of Patterson's. The best feature that is always there are the short but to the point chapters. This really makes things easy when you only have a little time to read. This one I have to say has a very good and surprising end. I mean I thought I knew it the whole way through, but I was just dead awful wrong. Another thing I liked is how the book reflected the catholic curuch and their seceracy. The plot kind of reminded me of the bestselling Left Behind series. So if you want a good novel from a credible author, this is the one.
Rating: Summary: Another Great Patterson Novel Review: I never read VIRGIN but i've read most of Patterson's other works. It's nice to see him step out of the Alex Cross saga (again) and do it with such success!By far one if his best yet!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic! Read this book and see for yourself. Review: Okay, so it is not an Alex Cross mystery. However, it is an awesome book in its own right. Very fast reading, fast paced plot, the story has awesome possibilities. It was definitely one that kept my mind jumping and my finger turning the pages. It is hard for me to believe that the other reviewers and I read the same book! I absoluely loved it! I even lent it to my sister (who DOES NOT read for entertainment) and she finished it in two days! On top of that, she asked me for more of his books. Read this book and see for yourself. A definte winner!
Rating: Summary: Cradle and All Review: Cradle and All was one of the most intriguing books I have ever read. A beginner to James Patterson, I found this book to be an absolue delight - it you like being in suspense!! This is one book that should be turned into a movie. My next venture is to get started on the Alix Cross stories.
Rating: Summary: One of Patterson's Best Yet Review: Many of you are faithful Alex Cross worshipers. But if you have not noticed, the last one was not that great. His other non- Alex Cross books have had little to be desired, in my humble opinion. But I started this book 3 1/2 hours ago and I was mesmerized. I could not put it down. I think that this story was a lot better than any of his other books. In typical Patterson fashion, the book is fast-paced and the chapters are short. But the story is so compelling. Someone wrote that the plot was flawed. Well, I am not Catholic and I don't know how much was purely made up or how much was based on the truth, but I think that this is James Patterson's best book to date. If you can put this one down, you need help! This is definitely his best book. And now, I want to read the "Virgin" book to see what was different.
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your money Review: If you like James Patterson's writing style, borrow from your library, skim the book, then take it back. Technically, it is flawed, subject wise, dumb, the characters, shallow. Go back to his great Alex Cross character books, and forget this poor rewrite of a 20 year old waste of time. I am waiting for his next adventure with Alex
Rating: Summary: Very different for Patterson, but GOOD Review: James Patterson is one of my favorite, no HE IS MY FAVORITE author and this is my first review for him. I've read all the ALEX CROSS novels and can't wait for ROSES ARE RED, I've also read Hide and Seek, When the wind blows, Midnight Club, and See HOW THEY RUN. Cradle AND ALL is about 2 virgin births, one in Ireland and one In America. Patterson takes on 1st person at Anne Fitzgerald a former nun and now turned Private EYE. She along with the VATICAN ( a priest named Rosetti and another named Justin O'Carroll) have to judge which is a true VIRGIN birth or if one will birth Satan and the other will be the second coming of Jesus. I loved the ending to this book , very shocking and you want more. Plus it is a very fast read. If you are or aren't a Patterson fan, you'll love this book
Rating: Summary: Pure schlock! Review: Don't waste your time or money on this book. I was so disappointed in it. I normally like Patterson, even when it is not a Cross novel, but this was a complete waste of paper. Makes you wonder if he just need the money or something. The plot was short on imagination and the writing choppy. You got no real feel for any of the characters and nothing in the book made you feel like you wanted to know more. The end, which was supposed to be a twist, was just too pat. You could see it coming a mile away. If you must read this book, get it from your library.
Rating: Summary: A disppointment for Patterson fans Review: I didn't know this book was a re-working of Virgin until after I'd read it, but it shows some of the shallowness encountered in a popular author's early works. I am a fan of the Alex Cross novels, and I knew this book did not have the Cross character in it, but I wanted to read it anyway. I was disappointed. This book seemed very much like a meet-the-publisher's-contract-quota book. The characters are undeveloped, and there are gaps in the story that are unexplained. I found chapter-ending dilemmas that were not resolved. I was carried along, but skeptical at the same time. For that reason, I gave it two (instead of one) stars. All-in-all, not a book I would recommend to readers accustomed to Patterson's quality of writing.
