Summary: Awesome experience!!!(JG3rd)
Review: The Cradle and All was a very detailed book. James Patterson did such a good job at describing each scene that I felt as though I was there. Truthfully most of the book contained some sexual scenes and I thought it was all happening to me.The plot was pretty clear in what was suppose to happen. But as I moved through the book the author kept changing settings and it became uncontrolably confusing. Though Iam one to easily be lost, so the fault was more of mine than that of the authors.James made me think one thing was going to happen then all the sudden something else happened. This kept me reading because I never truly knew what was going to happen.Cradle and All was a wonderfully exciting book! Chapters were made short so I felt as though I flew through the book. Many events were exciting and kept me reading so I was done in no time. I felt as though I flew through the book. Reading this book made reading a pleasurable activity. Now Iam looking very forward to reading my next book!

Summary: A very satisfying book
Review: This was the first of James Patterson's books I have read. There weren't many dull moments at all.The main character Anne Fitzgerald kept me wondering about how her story would end, after Colleen and Kathleen had thier babies.Another thing I wondered was if Father Justin O'Carroll loved Anne enough to leave his job as a priest.Every chapter kept me curiously reading on so much that I finished to book in less than twenty four hours from the time I had started. Normally I dread reading books, or the more interesting ones take me a little less than a weak. The ending was very satisfying in the way it came very unpredictable. In fact I liked the book so well that I've already finished reading another of his and am planning on reading many more. I do recommend this book to anyone who needs to respark their imagination, whether you have a few hours or a few days. You won't be able to put it down! No BS! *Aisha Ahmouda*

Summary: Amazing book
Review: I read this book while traveling around Ireland, which made it even more interesting to me. It is my first James Patterson book, but I am already scouring to get more! It held my attention from the very beginning (which is hard to do) and I was very surprised at the end.In this day and age it is hard to believe in miracles much less immaculate conception, but he had me believing. My traveling companion kept leaning over and reading a few pages and then would ask what was going on. I think Mr. Patterson has hooked two new readers with this one!!!

Summary: Couldn't Put It Down
Review: This was my first Patterson novel after only seeing the movie version of "Kiss the Girls." It kept me guessing until the very last page and hints at a possible sequel. If you're a fan of good v. evil or even interested in Bible prophecy and the Apocalypse, this is the book for you. After just discovering the "Left Behind" series, this was a good read.

Summary: Cardboard Characters
Review: I, too, read almost every James Patterson novel. Unlike most of his books, I found this one to be poorly written with absolutely no character development. Only the plot kept me moving through the book, but I skipped about half of every page in order to avoid the agony of reading bad prose.

Summary: Save your money...
Review: buy this book as a used paper back instead of shelling out the full price for hardback. There isn't much about this book to like.

The story of 2 virgins who happen to get pregnant at the same time. Which virgin carries the new savior and which carries the devil's child? Most of this story is spent bouncing back and forth between the U.S. and Ireland as Patterson trieds, unsuccessfully, to build suspense for the reading by telling the story from both points of view of the virgins. Why can't either one remember how she got pregnant? What forces keep attacking the priest who are trying to find out who has the good child?

In the end most of it is nothing but filler with a couple of twist at the end. You'd be better off reading his newest novel, "1st To Die".

Summary: Good or Bad, depending on religious beliefs, still exciting
Review: This novel is well written and entertaining and seems to achieve the purpose the author wanted it to, unlike the forced thrillers Roses are Red and Pop Goes the Weisel. But no one in their right mind can take this book seriously if they hold any type of Christian religious beliefs.

If you have belief system in which you believe Mary gave birth to Jesus and Jesus is the savior of the world, then you will have a problem with this book because it directly contradicts that theology. It this book, two virgins are supposed to give birth to babies. One will be the savior of the world, one baby will be the child of Satan. All of this is supposedly prophesied at the Catholic miracle at Fatima (I'm a protestant, so I know nothing about Fatima.) If you believe Jesus is the messiah, then you'll have a hard time believing a book where another messiah is supposed to be born in the 20th century. If this were to be true, it would directly contradict the birth and purpose of Christ and it would add to the Bible.

I know Patterson wrote this as an intriguing thriller, but it fails. A person with Christian beliefs can enjoy books by Stephen King about ghosts or Patterson's book Where the Wind Blows about children who can fly. These books can be believed somewhat because ghosts and flying kids don't conflict with a Christian belief system. This book does. So if you believe the events of Cradle and All, you have to throw out what you believe about your religion. Part of the fun of reading books is that you are able to picture the events happening in real life. You can't do this with this book because another virgin birth would totally negate the existence of Christ.

But I don't think this book is sacreligious. It was highly entertaining and well-written. I thought all of the loose ends were tied up unlike some reviewers. I know Patterson isn't a theologian, and I'm glad, because I don't buy into his views on the church and salvation.

Also, I would be curious as to what Catholics think of this book since it directly revolves around Fatima and the pope and many of their other traditions.

So, read this book but if you believe the Bible is true, then prepare to be disappointed.

Summary: Unprejudiced view
Review: Considering this was my first James Patterson novel, I did not have the opportunity to compare it to his other novels like some of the other reviewers. I bought this book because of its contents, not because of the author's name. After reading a few more of his books, I realize that this was a different kind of book for him and appreciate his effort (which I happen to think he pulled off better than most of his other "normal" books.) Anyway, this book stuck to what I was expecting from it, a quick, decent read about good and evil, and it's what I got. The ending was a little bit of a disappointment, but overall, it kept me reading well into the night, not wanting to put it down. The characters were a little underdeveloped, but I still liked them. Well, if you want a good book that's a quick and good read, pick this up because you like what it's about...not because you're a faithful Patterson fan, because it is a bit off his normal track. Enjoy!

Summary: Trite
Review: I hate to say it, but this book is a bunch of hogwash. It is trite, unbelievable, and poorly written. Don't waste your time with this. It's pretty awful!!

Summary: Different and exciting
Review: I am a big fan of James Patterson. He may very well be my favorite author. With that said this book is not much diffrent than anything else he ever wrote. Mr. Patterson is into suspense and lack of character development and plausible plot lines are his norm. This novel did have the same "norms" but it reads so fast and as someone not Catholic I found it to be a scary look at the Church. I can see where a devout catholic would be offended but get over it is a novel.

Overall, the book has more unanswered questions than ever but nobody is going to guess the ending and that is only the question that needs to be answered. Its fun and worth the two days maximum it will take to read, I still miss Alex though.
