Summary: Great Read
Review: Finally, a book by V.C. Andrews that dosen't involve the main character falling in love with her brother/cousin/uncle. It is a breath of fresh air!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: good......
Review: Good book & I admire Pearl's character. She was really stong throughout it. It's just too bad she didnt grow up in the bayou instead of new orleans.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: I really enjoyed this book but. . .
Review: I am really a huge V.C. Andrews fan & I've read atleast 13 of her books(which I loved).I must say I enjoyed this book but the rest of the books in this series were 100%better.The Laundry series is my fav.(besides "My Sweet Audrina")because it is very suspenseful.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not the best book in the series.
Review: I loved the first 3 books and then this one I skipped over alot because it got boring, but I read it anyways to get through it and then I read the 5th book(prequel)which confused me a lot at first until I realized it was meant to be the first book. So far its excellent. But. Hidden Jewel I rated a 3 because its really weak. I actually Live in Houma, Louisiana and found out about these book from a pen pal and was curious what they say about here. I identify with most of the places, but the only thing I;d have to say I dont like is it makes it sound like we live in top of a swamp or something and sure we have swamp and bayou, but its not like we have to boat our way around. we do drive. But this is a great set of books!....

Summary: Simply...Marvelous!
Review: I must be one of V.C. Andrews biggest fans! I have her entire collection (ranging all the way from Flowers in the Attic up until her most recent book, Melody). I rate all of her books with a 10, except for Garden of Shadows; I rate that particular book with about a 7. This is due to the fact that I didn't care too much for the main character in this novel (Bart). I especially, didn't too much take to his childish, and somewhat neurotic behavior; all of which I thought the author prolonged. Personally I was not too enthused over Garden of Shadows. But you know what they say...."For every 'good' bunch, there must be at least one rotten apple." (Or is that just what I say?) I hope I haven't discouraged anyone from reading this book, because we all have, and are entitled to different opinions. Well, I hope each and everyone of you V.C. Andrews readers enjoys her collection in its entirety (I know I do, of course, with that one exception). Oh, by the way, my favorite books in the collection happen to be the: Casteel Series, Cutler Family Series, My Sweet Audrina, Landry Series, and the-soon-to-be new Logan Series. Have fun reading these exciting, and spellbinding stories... "Kiddies"! Devoted Fan, V.H. :)

Summary: great! such a strong character!!!!!!!
Review: I read this in 3 days. I just loved Pearl, she is such a strong, brave and smart character, so much not like the weak and dumb daughters, Christie and Annie of the cutler and casteel series. and Jack clovis was so right for her and such a sweetie!! I only wish there was another book about them!! it is one of my faves!!!

Summary: Suspensful Storyline a plus - Background Details All Wrong
Review: I, being a V.C. Andrews fan from way back, enjoyed the suspensful storyline of the book. The characters were all well developed and the writers really made you care about them and what happened to them. I was disappointed in the background details though throughout the entire Landry series. Speaking as someone who has lived in Houma, LA for many years, it is a shame that the writers went to such pains to describe New Orleans and the Bayou to make the reader feel that he/she was there and then used only sterotypical, obviously unresearched info to describe the Bayou. No one I've ever met down here has EVER called their porch "a gallery", I've NEVER met ANYONE who lived in a "Shack on stilts" or traveled around by pirouge. I've never seen ANYONE around here sit on their porch and weave baskets or anything else to sell to tourists. Sorry to break the illuision but our homes are make of brick and siding like everybody else. We work at banks, department stores etc. Yes, we have lots of folks working in the oil field, my husband does, but each person is NOT assigned an oil well to look after PLEASE. My answer is next time the writers should actually visit the place they are writing about before they try to spend so much time describing it.

Summary: YOU GOTTA READ IT!!
Review: Pearl Andreas, the main character in this novel, has the most perfect world or so she thinks. Pearl grew up in a loving home. After Pearl graduates from high school, she plans to go to college and then to medical school. ALthough Pearl knew that her mother had had a hard teen life she never thought that it would effect her. When Pearl's younger brother Jean dies from a snakebite, both her mother and her oyunger brother take it bad. Pierre, the younger twin brother, goes into a come and her mother, Ruby runs away to where she was raised. Pearl must go and get her mother back home before Jean dies. While Pearl is looking for her mother, hse learns that the whole world is not picture perfect.

Hidden Jewel is the fourth novel in the Spellbinding Landary Series. Hidden Jewel proves to be just as good as the firt three books. V.C. Andrews does a great job of keeping the reader interested of what keeps on happening to Pearl. The novel may be a little mature for young reader. If you are a V.C. Andrews fan you will enjoy this novel.

Summary: Pretty Good
Review: Pearl is a lot smarter than some of the other VC Andrew's characters, but I found some things to be odd. I couldn't figure out why she called her parents "mommy and daddy" when she is 17 years old. She was very strong when she tried to find her mother, but I felt like when she found Jack, she fell for him a little quickly. He could have easily just turned out to be some jerk. This story line is a little different than the other novels, there are not as many twists and turns. Basically the biggest part of the novel was finding her mother Ruby. I give it 4 stars because I didn't find it as interesting or unique as the other novels, but it is good.
