Rating: Summary: Dice Angel Review: WOW!!! One of the best books that I have read in a long time!!! It was fast, fun and full of life. This book would make a great movie. I can't wait to read Brian Rouff's next book; it can't come soon enough. You can't go wrong in buying this novel by first time writer, Brian Rouff.
Rating: Summary: Dice Angel Review: This was an absolutely fun book to read. I was hooked from the first page. Jimmy D was a great character to follow. I especially enjoyed some of the places he went that brought back memories of my own youth. I'm not much of a book reader but I would love to follow Jimmy in more adventures. This book is moving around my circle of friends like wildfire!
Rating: Summary: Bad Luck in Las Vegas Makes for Great Reading Review: Dice Angel's main character, Jimmy Delaney, is on a roller coaster of misadventure. Jimmy's luck might be [junky], but the dialogue is snappy, the characters are scrappy, and not a single moment (not even the affirmative ending) is sappy. In addition, Jimmy has a wicked sense of humor, good for at least a laugh a page. Best of all, perhaps, is author Brian Rouff's jaded view of Las Vegas. In a city where almost all the major media come from afar -- hitting the place for ratings week or advertiser revenue, then running -- it's eminently refreshing to read a book written by someone who's lived there for a couple decades and knows the place inside and out. Dice Angel is the whole package.
Rating: Summary: Las Vegas U ncovered! Review: Take it to the beach, read it on the plane, or just settle into a comfy chair and enjoy Las Vegas as described by Mr. Rouff through the eyes of bartender Jim Delaney. A very refreshing book. The humor is unforced, the hero a very real person. I look forward to a Jim Delaney sequel.
Rating: Summary: A New Series (we hope!) from Glitter City Review: And along comes Jim Delaney,tough/tender, funny and totally believable character we demand to hear more about. Instantly into the Las Vegas scene, brilliantly portrayed in all its gritty, quirkiness, you're absolutely glued to this book until the last page. Whether you are a Vegas regular, or have never visited, by the time you reach Chapter 2, you will already have a feel for the city. Mr. Rouff, please keep Jim Delaney on the scene - in just one book, he's become a wonderful fictional friend of ours. He's bound to have more adventures - he is definitely the type.
Rating: Summary: A Las Vegas view from a local perspective Review: Brian Rouff shows the "real" side of Vegas in "Dice Angel." He accurately portrays the community life in the area, however, mixes in the gambling and the perception of the "Vegas" lifestyle for entertainment. I love reading a book where I laugh out loud and that is what "Dice Angel" provides. I highly recommend this book for locals and non-locals alike.
Rating: Summary: A "Can't Put It Down" With Humor on Every Page Review: I know, it is a cliche, but I couldn't put this one down! I even blew an assignment at work in order to finish the book. And this is no skim the pages; if you do, you will miss many one-liners of humor that are laugh-out-loud funny!!! It is difficult to believe that this is Brian's first novel. I can't wait to read his next one. Let me put it this way, if the ratings had 10 stars, this one would get it!
Rating: Summary: It will pull you in Review: After a recomendation from a friend I read this book and from the opening lines I was unable to put it down. I enjoyed every moment of Dice Angel. It was faced paced and exciting. I would urge anyone young or old to pick up a copy and sit down and read it TODAY.
Rating: Summary: Dice Angel Review: Wonderful book. Tightly written, fast moving, humorous, contemporary. Of course, I enjoyed all the local references. Nice job!
Rating: Summary: I want more Review: I didn't want the book to end and I don't even like to read. I normally have to read things a few times over before I really understand whats going on, and I can take a normal length novel and turn it into a month long project. But when I started reading this book, I could not put it down, and when I finished reading (in one day), I wanted there to be more of the story that I could read. The dialogue all seemed very real and easy to relate to. This is a very quick and fun read.
