Rating: Summary: Dice Angel by Brian Rouff Review: Brian Rouff's clever, witty, writing style captures the real Las Vegas. The glamour and glitz, grit and sand, excitement and everyday boredom of its unique lifestyle. His characters are people I know, see, and pass on the streets as I dodge the "Nevada state bush," those darn orange construction cones that decorate the streets. Dice Angel's twists and turns will whip and toss and thrill youlike the roller coaster ride at the New York, New York. It's a stay up all night, edge of the seat read right up to the literary, tip you upside down, ending.
Rating: Summary: Weekend escape in Vegas? Review: So, you think you want to head to the land of sun, sin, and easy cash but you just don't have the time or the financial wherewithal to do so? Enter Dice Angel. Brian Rouff takes you to the Strip, with all the crazy, zany, silly things that make Vegas what it is. And he takes you off the Strip, to the veritable unknown land that only we locals inhabit, where people don't wear glitter all day and money doesn't come so easy. It's a fairy tale fantasy ride with a big dose of reality stirred in. He peopled this Vegas with folks just like the ones who really live here: the over-made, the unappreciated, the ice-cold, the larger-than-life, the downright unbelieveable, the ordinary, the forgotten, the trumped-up and the devinely insane. Take a weekend escape to Vegas with Dice Angel. You'll see Vegas like you've never seen before.
Rating: Summary: A Las Vegas Native (Yes, we do exist!) Review: Finally!...A writer who has captured the truth of the Las Vegas lifestyle like no one has before. Rouff's character Delaney...a regular "Joe-schmo" unintentionally brought into the antics of the wild and crazy people of Sin City....which is not so unfamiliar if you've ever been to the city. -An entertaining page turner indeed!
Rating: Summary: Dice Angel Review: What a magnificent book!!! Full of excitement and intrigue....I love it!!!

Rating: Summary: DICE ANGEL HITS THE SPOT SEPT 1, 2003 Review: Finding a book like this is a rare privilege! The "hook" keeps getting better as you turn the pages and you go into the character's world almost as if hypnotized. When you buy this book be sure to set aside some "special time" to read it without distractions. (You can thank me for this later.) Rouff does a great job developing Jimmy D. as someone you can identify with and know immediately. The entrance of the other characters is a delight and you can so easily picture them in your mind. This book is one of those things that you hate to see end so upon turning the last page I immediately contacted Rouff, the author, to strongly encourage him to continue on with his magnificent work. To my delight he answered me immediately! This may be his first book but it will not be his last! Go get em Brian...........
Rating: Summary: Vegas locals love it too! Review: As a relatively new resident to Vegas (10 months), this book was both entertaining and educational. I laughed hysterically at the jokes, since most of them pertained to my life in one way or another. I especially liked the comment about the orange cones being designated as the official state bush. Trust me, if you've driven the surface streets lately, you know this is true. Construction everywhere!! I'm typically a one chapter a night book reader. With this book, I found myself reading 4 or 5 chapters a night. Once Jimmy D met his dice angel, forget it! I was totally entranced by what I was reading, and finished the book that night!! The details, the situations, the twists and turns were just amazing. I highly recommend this book to potential Vegas tourists, locals, and anyone else who enjoys a great read! Thanks for sharing your talent with us Brian, and keep 'em comin'!! Jane
Rating: Summary: Perfect Vegas in a little package Review: I'd been meaning to read this book for a while, and recently finished it on a trip out of the country. The way the author describes Las Vegas is marvellously accurate. It's not the mob-driven scum pool it once was, but Rouff's Las Vegas is hardly angelic, either. There's something in this book for everyone- the author presents characters anyone can identify with: Jimmy D, the locals' bar owner whose luck has just run out; and Joy, the ex-wife who seems to go out of her way to be a thorn in Jimmy's side. And he describes situations every American fears: Suddenly, he owes the IRS more than he could possibly come up with, just as Owen, his trusted financial manager disappears with all his money. I even learned a little about playing craps. :-) The book is easy to read, and fun to let yourself get drawn into. I love the setups and the falls, and the ways that the interesting players think of to deal with their lives. Buy this book, read it, and love it. And wait for his next- I hear he's already working on it. ;-)
Rating: Summary: Dice Angel covers all the Vegas angles Review: From Pete to Poon to the certifiable Amaris, Brian Rouff covers all the Vegas angles in a town that was built on and lives on angles not Angels. My bed shook more from laughing as I read this than it did during our last earthquake. Come to think of it, that is the most action the old Serta has had in awhile. But, that's my problem. Buy this book and hope that Mr. Rouff has more Jimmy Delaney stories for us real soon.
Rating: Summary: A great book for adrenalin junkies Review: It's a novel, but like all good fiction it reads as if it's real, and knowing a bit about Las Vegas, it COULD be real. Life for Jimmy D begins to shred apart following a break-in at his LV bar. And that's just the tip of his iceberg sized problems: a past of heavy drinking and gambling, IRS troubles, and threats to his otherwise good relationship with his daughter. Then along comes an introduction to Amaris, the Dice Angel of the title. Engaging and true to the atmosphere of Sin City.
