Summary: Here's that break you've been waiting for
Review: I've been forcing myself to read some classics and needed a break. The size betrays the fact that it's your typical beach-read but I spent most of the time trying to match up the characters with the folks I used to read about in People (referred to as PERSONALITY here). Now I want someone to write the expose on how true this book is!

  Summary: A Very Funny Read
Review: If you like trashy hollywood novels, this is the one for you! I absolutely love this book. The dish, the dirt, the mayhem was so much fun. I was surprised at who did it. Never imagined it could be that person. John Kane....I'm waiting for your next one!

  Summary: Fabulously Fun Trash
Review: It's so hard to find a well-written, entertaining and funny book -- BEST ACTRESS is one of them. It moves fast and I was wishing for more after I completed its last page. BEST ACTRESS is "stupid fun" that's up there in entertainment value with books like Sparkle Hayter's mysteries, THE DEAD HOLLYWOOD MOM'S SOCIETY, Joe Keenan's BLUE HEAVEN & PUTTING ON THE RITZ, and a few others. Why is it so hard to find books that are this fun to read?

  Summary: Hilariously funny "Hollywood" novel
Review: Kane pulls out all the stops to make you laugh in this riot of a novel. There were a couple of places where I thought he rushed the scene, but overall it was worth a read (and a re-read when you need a real laugh).

 Rating:
Summary: Never thought the "real" Hollywood was so funny!
Review: Kane's satire of Hollywood should be regarded as as classic. For us, the outsiders looking in, it gives us a bird's-eye view of what really goes on behing the scenes. With the five best actress nominees we travel along, feeling each high, and especially each low. A true masterpiece!

 Rating:
Summary: A Hollywood story that is as funny as it is almost true.
Review: Kane's story is the kind of tale that is so ridiculous that it must be true in Hollywood. Each of the actresses nominated for the Oscar are thinly veiled references to current Hollywood celebrities (If the National Enquirer always told the truth). This novel is a great wake-up call for those in the industry who take themselves a little too seriously. A great beach read!

Summary: Makes "Scruples" look like child's play.
Review: Move over Judith Krantz and Jackie Collins, there's a new boy in town and his name is John Kane. "Best Actress" is fun with a capital F. You need a beach read, this is it, but remember to wear your sunblock because you aren't leaving the beach until this book is finished. It is a whos-who of Hollywood. He drops star's names every chance he gets. Who is holding the gun? You don't know until the very end and I still didn't believe it. You will not be disappointed with this novel. If you love movies, the Oscar telecast and lots of sin, read "Best Actress".
