Rating: Summary: Thrilling, Suspenceful, Romantic and Faith-building. Review: I was told by many friends that this was the best book written by Dee Henderson. I will stop, now, at saying it is one of her best only because I haven't read all of her books yet. Sara Walsh isn't even Sara Walsh. She lives where and is who the FBI tells her. The reason being is that, when she was very young, a man kidnapped Sara and her sister and now, years later, he stalks her. Whenever he gets close to Sara the FBI sends her to a safe place and sometimes she recieves a new identity. Sara's brother, Dave, is on that team of FBI agents and is dedicated to keeping his sister safe. Even though there hasn't been a threat of her stalker in quite a while, Sara is still haunted by a faceless man. All she remembers is the terrible things that she had to endure when left alone in the blackness of the basement of an abandoned house. For years Sara has had nothing to do with relationships. That is of course until the day she runs into Adam Black, an ex-football player. The way she met him was not enjoyable for either and Sara had hoped that she would never see him again. But Adam has other plans. He wants to meet this unusual yet beautiful lady again. He searches hard and long and then they are finally united again. Adam slowly but surely lays the hints that he would like to be someone that Sara trusts with her secrets and someone she wants to spend time with. Sara is reluctant at first but soon starts to enjoy being around Adam. But falling in love with an ex-football player could be a bad thing for Sara. Adam has always attracted a lot of publicity, something that is unwanted and feared in Sara's life. The stalker could find out where she is. And if he does that means another move. But this time the stalker may not want to stick to sending threatening notes, this time he may finish the job he started years before. And that could only mean one thing, the elimination of the one person that could identify him. Sara! All through the book are references to Bible verses and both of the main characters always turned to God for their problems. That is one of the main reasons why I like this book and all the others. This particular story tells about a very serious circumstance in which God protected, helped and controlled. I love this book! Danger in the Shadows is an extremely thrilling book! When the stalker was getting close, I was gripping the book so tight that my knuckles were turning white. The relationship that grows between Sara and Adam is a really interesting one. Be prepared for a surprise at the end. Dee Henderson is a very talented author and I love all the books that I have read by her. Danger in the Shadows is one of the best and cannot afford to be overlooked.
Rating: Summary: great Review: Well Christian fiction is getting better as time goes by, I bought the book with the new cover. This book is great but its not the best that I've read, the suspense is pretty tame and nothing compared to Frank Peretti or Ted Dekker books. However that's not to say that it wasn't good, because it was a really great book. I liked that it had a contemporary feel to it, with strong and developed characters. It avoided the Christian sementalities and cliches, so it was refreshing to read. Not the best but its pretty good. It has a positive message, while being warm, and chaste. Many female writers in Christian fiction tend to write with such sentimentality and predictability so much so that it makes me want to gag. Besides a lot of books tend to be about the "schoolmarm heads out west type," which I don't like. Thank goodness for Dee Henderson and for her portrayal of a strong but loving female character in this book. I read this prequel because I want to start reading the O'Malley series.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME! Review: A wonderful book! I couldn't put it down if I tried! While having a good background in God, it also makes you want to read it over and over. A must-read! I recommend it to anyone and everyone.
Rating: Summary: Suspense, romance, and Christianity--I love the combination! Review: (taken from the book blurb) The Bureau owns her. Under FBI protection, Sara isn't even Sara Walsh anymore; her name is what they tell her. Her home is where they send her. And she's never there for long. A stranger owns her. Though faceless, he haunts Sara's dreams. He's the man who abducted her as a child and continues to stalk her. He's the one who's determined to end their connection--and Sara's life. But mostly, fear owns her. Which makes falling in love with a man as high-profile as Adam Black a bad idea. And a dangerous one. For both of them. The world is an unsafe place for love-and certainly an unsafe place for the children Adam longs for. No one knows that better than Sara, and she can't take the risk. . . But if she doesn't, her life will never be her own. Where will she find the courage to name her terror and face her fear? I loved this book! Dee Henderson is an awesome writer. Christian fiction is my favorite, but it is hard to find much of it around, and to see such a gifted writer in this genre is wonderful. I, like others, read The Negotiator first and I loved reading this one to learn about Dave's background. Sara and Adam are very poignant characters and even though I lead a much more "normal" life than Sara, I could still understand her situation. I recommend any of Ms. Henderson's books to anyone who loves reading!
Rating: Summary: Thrilling Review: A friend loaned me this book and told me I'd love it. That was a massive understatement. I could not put this book down. I think I read it in one day (ok, I admit it was probably the wee hours of the morning that I finished) Dee Henderson has created a beautiful and thrilling balance between the intensity of the danger and the tenderness of love. Her characters are kind and heartwarming without being unbelievably, impossibly perfect. The story line is capturing and you come to love the characters. I do offer a warning though, if you read this book you will become hooked. Might as well by The Negotiator and the other O'Malley series books and save yourself the trouble later. You will not want to put them down or wait for the next one to come!
Rating: Summary: Best Book I've Read In Awhile! Review: I bought this book for my Mother in Law for Christmas. She read it while visiting us in 2 days and left it with me, insisting I had to read it. I couldn't wait. I didn't read it as fast as she did, but I could definetely see WHY she read it so fast. From the very beginning, it draws you in. It's very simple to read, and flows very smoothly. Very easy, for me, with two small children to put the book down and come back to it in a few hours. I never got "lost" trying to remember what was happening. The story was great and the ending fabulous. I look forward to reading the O'Malley series and more of Dee Henderson's work in the future!
Rating: Summary: I expected more... Review: Dee Henderson's books seem to be flying off the shelves of bookstores and libraries and everyone seems to love them! This is the first one I've read - since there was a prequel, I decided to start with that one. Now it appears that this book was just re-released (my copy doesn't have the same cover)and was written earlier, before the O'Malley series. Perhaps that accounts for the fact that it's slow-moving and not as compelling as everyone thinks Dee's books are! I don't read a lot of Christian fiction (see my reviews for what I do read!), and I'm very selective, so perhaps I was just expecting more. The suspense isn't very early in the book and it's not all that suspenseful. The romance was okay, but I guess I was looking for more of a plot. I thought the end would be more exciting than it was. People tell me that the O'Malley series is better and I think I'll give "The Negotiator" a try!
Rating: Summary: Not as good as the rest of the O'Malley series. Review: This is an enjoyable and well-written book. However, I did not find it nearly as interesting as any of the other books in the O'Malley series.
Rating: Summary: Danger In The Shadows Review: Well written, interesting, captivating, romantic, inspirational, and absolutely addictive. I don't think you can go wrong with any of Dee Henderson's books in the O'Malley series. They are simply excellent. I have passed copies of my O'Malley books around to friends and family and everyone who has read them is now hooked. I think these books are for everyone. They really appeal to a wide range of readers. Read one and you won't be able to put it down.
Rating: Summary: This one had me up half the night!! Review: Seriously, I kid you not. This book had me reading up into the wee hours of the morning because I just couldn't put it down until I found out what happened. I read The Negotiator first and had read hints in that book about what had happened to Sara, but it wasn't until I picked up this one that I realized what I was missing. Sara's struggle to free herself from the terror and to completely trust in God really touched me. I loved the relationship between Dave and Sara and how their brothely-sisterly love stayed strong and pulled them closer rather than apart during everything Sara was going through. This book is awesome!!
