Summary: Can Faith Change the human heart? Find Out in The Negotiator
Review: Kate O'Malley faces the insanities of the world on a daily bases. As Hostage Negotiator Kate is legendary, her courage, wit and talent in her field has brought her to the top.... but nothing has been able to cure age old wounds. Dave Richman, an FBI special agent has spent his life protecting people, his courage, wit...and belief in God has led him to the top. When these two meet it is under a dangerous and stressful situation, but nothing can disguise the instant attraction they feel for each other. But can Kate open her heart enough to believe? And can Dave love a woman who has shut God out of her life? Soon secrets and old time enemies threaten both parties and both Kate and Dave will learn that God certainly does work in mysterious ways. The Negotiator is a wonderful read. Dee Henderson spins a beautiful love story and a suspenseful thriller. Only moderately predictable, Ms.Henderson sometimes relies on the cliched to pull her out of a rough spot. Such predictability can be overlooked in the wake of strong characters and a moving story line. The "inspirational" aspect is just that, inspirational, never "preachy" or high handed, God is softly intertwined with the characters and emotional plots and subplots. Satisfying to the end The Negotiator will have a place on my library shelf.

Summary: WARNING: PAGE TURNER!
Review: I would have given The Negotiator more stars actually. Wow is the first thing that comes to mind. I couldn't stop reading it, and that's hard for me. Especially since it's part romance, which at first turned me off, but the mystery and suspense kept my interest when first reviewing it.

Boy was I glad I did!! It was riveting from beginning to end and I absolutely can't wait to read the next in the series. I just finished it today and just HAD to share it.

I love this book and the characters because they are all strong independent people, yet vulnerable. Like Kate O'Malley, the main character in the novel.

Kate is a negotiator who orphaned at age 9 and became part of the O'Malley family with 6 other orphans. She becomes a target and it begins with a man in a bank with a bomb. You don't even realize that's the whole kernel of the pop until later on.

She's strong, independent, intelligent, funny, sensible, logical, (all the things we women are ;) )everything you would want in a strong female lead. She doesn't take no for an answer and goes after what she wants but is open minded and will give in when it's right.

While negotiating with a man with a bomb in a bank, she meets Dave Richman, he's with the FBI. And yes, they fall in love (what did you expect?) Together they unravel a mystery that seems like any other disaster to something very personal and very dangerous.

Anyway, Dee Henderson puts a lot in one book, love, suspense, and religion. Surprise, I wasn't expecting that at all. All the themes flowed seamlessly, none overbearing or annoying, all points were creates equally to give a balanced story. And what a story.

This is only 2nd book I've read where I haven't had to stop and roll my eyes because it was either too mushy or corny. It's was very realistic. Something that could happen in real life, the reactions, behaviors and feelings. All real. That's why I couldn't stop reading it, it was as if Dee Henderson brought someone's real life into a book.

I guarantee you will LOVE this book, if not, when you write your review, you can tell me off. :)

Summary: the Negotiator
Review: I have to agree with reviewer Yankiwi. this book hits on
religion too much to be in the crime/passion category.
If I want conversion to Christ I will go to church to
seek it.Also the love scenes are non-existant. People in
love do kiss and hold each other. Not worth the read.

Summary: Excellent
Review: I read this book in a week. I couldn't put it down!! I fell in love with the characters and the story line. I'm new to Dee Henderson's writing, but I intend on reading every single one of the "O'Malley" series books. I'm currently reading "Danger in the Shadows" which was the prequel to the O'Malley series and I'm already in love with these characters. I was hoping for a little more romance, which is the only reason I gave it 4 stars. I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good mystery with a little romance thrown in. Sometimes the investigation became confusing because the author detailed the police work and it was hard to follow but somehow it always wound up making sense and coming to together through the dialouge of the characters. Overall an excellent book.

Summary: Compulsively readable!
Review: This is a wonderful book! I stumbled across Danger in the Shadows by accident and enjoyed it, so I decided to go ahead and read the Negotiator. I'm so glad I did. This is truly a great book. The suspense made it a page turner, the romance was sweet, and the religious questions addressed were interesting and thought provoking.

Kate O'Malley is a no nonsense hostage negotiator who doesn't believe in relying on anyone, other than her family, the O'Malleys, and who believes God doesn't exist. How could He exist, she wonders, with all the bad that happens in our world? Then, Kate works a hostage situation and meets Dave Richman, who was introduced in Danger in the Shadows. Dave and Kate are opposites in many ways; Dave is rich and he grew up with his father in Britian, while Kate grew up in an orphanage. Dave is a patient FBI agent with a strong faith in and devotion to God.

As Dave spends time with Kate trying to protect her, his feelings grow. But their opposite views on God hold them apart. This book is excellent at examining religious issues people face as they date. Dave has feelings for Kate, but must wrestle with the fact that she is a non-believer. Meanwhile, Kate likes Dave and she respects his beliefs, but she still struggles with her questions. In the midst of it all, Kate is in danger and trying to solve a high profile case.

This book is wonderful is so many ways. There are many choices a reviewer could make to talk about in a review; the well written and suspenseful plot, the gentle romance, etc. All would make interesting discussions. I also don't think the reader has to be Christian to enjoy The Negotiator. This book will generate some great thought questions. It isn't empty entertainment by any means. And the best part is that is a clean read. Dee Henderson did an absolutely fabulous job in creating this book. It is, indeed, compulsively readable.

Summary: Christian book with no passion for believers only
Review: These books should be in the Chritian section NOT the general section. I am returning all five I bought- she may be a good writier BUT the non-dsiclosure of the CHRISTIAN advocacy is wrong and Amazon should be ashamed! I don't buy books to be proselytized to by anybody's religion.

Summary: This book rocks!!
Review: The O'Malley Series are now one of my favorite series of all time. After reading this book, I simply had to read all the rest. I fell in love with the story line, that characters, everything. I love how the characters deal with real life questions and struggles concerning faith and God and how Dee Henderson answers them without seeming incredibly preachy or cliche. This book is definitely not your average Christian Romance and I loved every minute of it.

Summary: An excellent Book
Review: The Negotiator by Dee Henderson is about a female police negotiator that has a past she would rather forget. She was removed from her family and put in an orphanage at an early age, her and other orphans decided to adopt one another and make their own family. But when someone from her past becomes involved with a plane blowing up she gets scared. She tries to clear this person from any wrongdoing. The negotiator didn't believe in god at first but eventually she does. This author seems to bring the word of god into her writings, she writes a mystery that has a little romance and action tied into one story line. I will admit when I found out this book came out of the Christian living category I thought this is going to be a boring book, much to my surprise it isn't. This book keeps you interested and makes you want to read more to find out what is going to happen next. This book is more like something that would happen in real life although it is fiction I could see something like this really happening. I can't wait to read the next one out of the O'Malley series. I would recommend anyone that likes a suspenseful story this is a great book for them. If all of Dee Henderson's are as good as this one is then you can bet I will start reading them all.
