Rating: Summary: Read the yellow pages... much more enjoyable. Review: I have always thought myself as a die hard Tom Clancey fan. Unfortunately, all that stopped when I read this book. There was absolutely no development of the plot or of the characters. I'm confident that most people know that "created by" doesn't necessarily mean that Tom Clancey is the author of the book However, it would be nice to know that he might have at least read the manuscript prior to putting his name on it. Blatant errors such as giving a male name to a female russian secretary just isn't Clancey's style. A total disappointment.
Rating: Summary: just fantastic Review: I have never read a book that made me stay up until 4 in the morning "just one more chapter". This book just keeps you interested its constant changes makes this book unique great job...
Rating: Summary: boring and predictable Review: I can't believe Clany wrote this one. In fact the book doesn't appear to have an author - more a group effort with Clancy's name being used to sell it. I had the ending of the book in my mind about 100 pages in and I wasn't dissapointed. Forget it.
Rating: Summary: This is a computer professionals book Review: I really liked the book. I am a computer freak so I adapted well with the book. If you understand PCs and really like the idea of VR then I recomend the book. Last 6 Chapters are very intrigueing.
Rating: Summary: Not Clancy's style Review: This book just does not belong in Clancy's library. All of his others take place in the present or short, very short future. To me, ten years out is just too long. Clancy should either continue writing technology thrillers or move on to sci-fi.
Rating: Summary: Sloppy & choppy writing with very flat character developmet Review: There was a great deal of jumping around which broke up the flow of the story. No one character was fully developed; even the main and obstacle characters were flat. The teen theme was very shallow and without significant message. There was a significant number of loose ends (perhaps a sequel): I hope not!!
Rating: Summary: True Clancy fans would be disappointed... Review: Very disappointed in this latest Clancy novel. The plot is obvious and portrays the Internet as a rediculous collection of metephors -- not at all classic Clancy. I normally enjoy Clancy's ability to use real people, places, military and political issues and tactics -- not here. Some computer nerds will like the portrayal of Green Baret Ninja Internet cops wielding laptops, I thought it campy. The main charactor stews around all day thinking about his sad life and not actually *doing* anything, people on the Internet are stuck in traffic in their virtual reality gear, etc.. Not his typical research and realistic writing. When I was in the military I used to marvel at his books, wondering "how much of this is classified?" In this one, I'm blown away by how stupid he makes the Internet and the people who monitor it look.If you're a real fan of Clancy and disappointed in his books sinse he started co-authoring more of them, like I am, then don't bother with this one either.
Rating: Summary: This book was the most bland and boring novel on the planet. Review: This book was a complete disgrace to literature. It was dull to read and I even feel asleep at some points in the novel because the events which were occuring were not interesting. There was no suspense, nothing to look forward to, or even any interesting description. The novel skipped it's setting from place to place and from person to person. This made it really hard to get a clear picture of what was really going on in the story. The characters in the story had as much personality as a 130 year old math teacher and they made the story seem to drag out even longer. It was a complete waste of time to read and I wouldn't have finished but I needed to read it for school purposes. It was just too dull.
Rating: Summary: Good if your a techno freak like me Review: I loved the use of all the high tech weaponry and the element of VR in the story line. It's a book for people that like to hear about futuristic stuff.
