Rating: Summary: One can only suspend so much disbelief Review: As we traipse from plot convenience to plot convenience, we learn about the lives of the one-dimensional residents of Elk River. The author has literally created a world of his own, where no outside influence may intrude. In his world, murder upon murder happen in a vacuum and nobody outside of this town notices? Yeah, right. A total ignorance of the legal process also serves as the means by which his evil character Tony Hunt gets everything done.Let's not forget the stereotypical policemen and union members in this town of 20,000 and one church. The plot was unique and had great potential. I actually enjoyed the first 1/4 of the book. It was about that time that I realized a Steven King book was more plausible. This should have been a comic book.
Rating: Summary: A thriller! Review: Except for the premise of three Vietnam Vets being able to dig connecting tunnels throughout the city by themselves over several years silently and without significant equipment and keeping it a secret, which I found hard to accept, the novel is a good read. Interesting characters. Good plot. Good prose. You won't regret this read!
Rating: Summary: Great adventure Review: Fast paced adventure novel. Has the same type of feeling as Die Hard, but the villian isn't as good as Hans. Great fun to read.
Rating: Summary: Non-stop literary fun Review: Flynns' biting humor and edgy action, make Digger a read to lose sleep over. Although a bit far-fetched, I was only disappointed that it ended. A refreshingly fresh style.....
Rating: Summary: My thanks to all those who enjoyed "Digger" Review: For five years, until I met a terrific agent and he hooked me up with Bantam, "Digger" was solely a labor of love. The story evolved through six revisions of a 700+ page first draft. The day I got the phone call from Bantam saying they wanted to buy my novel was the happiest day of my professional life. But reading the comments of the people who "Digger" has pleased comes very close to duplicating that feeling. My thanks to all of you.
Rating: Summary: There can be no one-line summary Review: I am normally a "skip-reader". I could not do so with this book. I learned a tremendous amount about the concept of the Vietnam war that was so much a part of my life. I want to know more. Is there another book by this author?

Rating: Summary: Very satisfied but could even better Review: I just love this most talented writer and would like to read more of his works. The coolest part of this book is that of its short but just fine and appropriate chapters. The pathetic strike scene really have made me think twice about the employer vs. employees as well as employment stuff. Tony Hunt is one of the baddest(worst) corporate CEOs a labor/employee could ever meet. The tunnel scenes are definitely not imagined or dreamed up by a guy who never got the realistic experience in Nam. What turned me off a little bit is the religious part; lighting a candle could link to the other world....that's totally crap and BS, man, but that great church could stay and is okayed by me anyway. Just like after finished reading of any good novel, I wish I could visit Elk River, Ohic someday to look around if there's a real town in that name and exactly in that place. I'll try to grap all the books by Joseph Flynn.
Rating: Summary: A gripping story line. Review: Somehow I didn't believe that a story about tunnels under a small town could be all that interesting. I was wrong. Flynn brings storyline, character, and the tunnels together in a masterful way. A great read.
