Summary: A chilling thriller that is a fun read
Review: The space shuttle Atlantis is nearing the final countdown before lifting off into space. Since a decade has passed since the Challenger accident, the public has become complacent towards the shuttle program and there is no reason to believe that this lift off will any different from those of any other shuttle in the nineties. However, unbeknownst to American and Russian astronauts on board waiting for the final IGNITION, and the millions watching on TV around the world, this trip has been aborted. A team of terrorists has seized control of the launch center. ...... The leader, Mr. Phillips will sell the shuttle back to America for a case filled with gems and a helicopter within four hours or else. Only one man might be able to abort the upcoming disaster. Colonel "Iceberg" Friese was the former commander of this particular mission until he broke his foot. He knows his crew is in deep trouble unless he can not stop Phillips and his gang. If he fails, the degree of the disaster could match that of the Challenger or perhaps even worse. ....... IGNITION is a by the book thriller that provides no new twists and has an action hero that has been seen in many a novel and movie. Yet the Anderson and Beason collaboration still grabs the reader by the throat and never lets up until the tale is finished. Anyone who enjoys action packed thrillers like the DIE HARD series or the space program (the insight into NASA by two former insiders is intriguing) will find this novel immensely satisfying. .......Harriet Klausner

Summary: Not bad, but the ending could be better.
Review: This book is packed with a whole bunch of fun loving stunts. The writers went to make it as realistic a possible, but just enough to make interesting. Mr. Anderson and Mr. Beason use the ever so popular terrorist plot, but with a major twist. This group of terrorists siezes control of something thought to be totally secure, NASA's Kennedy Space Ceter. Colonel Adam "Iceberg" Friese is our protagonist in this story. His icey cool actions allow him to think clearly while under pressure. He is shot at with bullets and even missiles, bunched, kicked, and all around beaten. He does this all with a broken ankle. While Iceberg is roaming around the complex fighting off terrorists, his off and on lover affair, Nicole Hunter, is captured in the Launch Command building by the terrorist leader. Along with her is the entire launch staff, a senator, and a Russian delagate. As if thing could not get any worse, a shuttle crew is being held hostage within the shuttle sitting on top of millions of pounds of solid and liquid rocket fuel. Will Iceberg save the day? See for yourself in Ignition by Kevin Anderson and Doug Beason.

Summary: Horrendous
Review: This book was extremely badly written. The characters all have a big ego and the worst dialogue. The plot seems interesting at first but becomes an even-worse-than-B-movie plot. I hoped it would be good because I'm a huge K.J. Anderson fan but this was horrible (right next to Ai! Pedrito!). Hopefully both of these terrible novels were because Anderson wasn't working alone.

Instead I highly recommend Hopscotch and Captain Nemo, both by Anderson.

Summary: Exciting story - fast paced continiuous action
Review: This is a book with action on every page. I couldn't put it down and was forced to stay up late to finish it. The only weakness is that the lead character's broken foot would not permit him to do the things he does. But that aside, the story is exciting, the reading is easy, and this is definitely a book to read and enjoy.

Summary: Implausable plot but a great read. Escapist fun.
Review: Thoroughly enjoyable story of an armed takeover of the Kennedy Space Center by terrorists. The plot has many holes, but is doen not distract from the enjoyment. A modern Rambo story set in high-tech setting. Plenty of blood and explosions.

Summary: Absolutely horrible
Review: Totally predictable and Totally boring.

I made it about halfway through the book and then threw it away.

Its typical that holleywood will grab this and make a really bad movie out of a really bad book.

Summary: How can anyone give this book more than 1 star?
Review: Very irresponsible writing that treats readers as idiots

Summary: Fairly predictable, but still entertaining.
Review: While the plot of Ignition was fairly predictable, I still enjoyed reading it. I am a fan of the space shuttle program, any NASA program. This book was a pretty interesting attempt at detailing what could go wrong. One would hope that the security of the Kennedy Space Center is more tightly monitored than what is represented in this novel. But, being a government patrolled area, it does give one pause, considering Washington's loose-lipped history. If you are looking for a no-brainer type book that is just a nice comfortable read, then you will like this book. If you are looking for something with strong character development and indepth plot structure that requires you to exercise your college degree, you won't. I like reading for fun and entertainment...this book handles that quite well.

Summary: DIE HARD on the shuttle launchpad...
Review: With the movie rights to IGNITION already sold, one can't help but make the jump to how much this novel reads like a screenplay waiting to be filmed. It is a suspense filled action thriller -- fast paced, with meticulous attention to detail, especially concerning the Kennedy Space Center, weapons and scientific details. We would expect no less from this team of writers who have made popular names for themselves in the science fiction arena -- and now cross genres to share their skills with a whole new audience. The dialog and characterizations get better in each of their books, and if you thought you knew all that could go wrong with a NASA shuttle launch -- this story will make you think again
