Rating: Summary: Don't start this book if you have something important to do. Review: The reader is instantly drawn into a web of suspense that has the chilling realism to it that it could happen to any one of us. One of the best suspense novels I've read lately, it definately falls into the "can't put it down" category. I am looking forward to Alan Jacobson's upcoming novel, The Hunted.
Rating: Summary: Great book except the very last page! Review: I gave this book 4 stars because it truly was exciting and I did enjoy reading... most of it... The problem was the very last page. There were no hints or clues to help the reader along with the conclusion of this story... The author could have easily made any of the characters (or anyone in the world for that matter) the culprit with the evidence provided. Twists are wonderful when they are substantiated, but dumb when they aren't.
Rating: Summary: Riveting and suspenseful Review: The Alfred Hitchcock ending was a spectular surprise and added to making this a fun read. I am looking forward to future works by this first-time novelist!
Rating: Summary: definitely the best mystery book i've read this year Review: From the time I picked up the book @10am until I put it down 3 hours later I was captivated. For a first time writer, Jacobson has definitely got the right formula for this type of writing, and I can't wait to get my hands on his next book (soon hopefully!!!!)
Rating: Summary: Couldn't stop reading Review: Fantastic read! I've been reading thrillers and mysteries for years. Most of them keep my attention, but this one I wasn't able to put down. I just couldn't stop reading it. The author has a very easy style, one that invites you in and grabs you until you turn the last page. Just don't read the ending first! This one was recommended to me, and I've got to say, I'm now recommending it to others. I've found myself a new top author!
Rating: Summary: It was a fun read that kept you guessing Review: I really enjoyed this book! It was the first time I read anything by Alan Jacobson and now I'm looking forward to his next novel.
Rating: Summary: Clearly his first book Review: After hearing some of the rave reviews, I was excited to read Mr. Jacobson's novel, especially because it is set locally. I felt the characters were poorly developed. Madison was a wimp throughout the book who made very poor, unbelievable choices, yet we're supposed to believe his outcome...I don't think so. Brittany Harding was the most well-developed character, yet there were also some questions regarding her outcome in the trial. The trial scene left some unanswered questions. It is clear Mr. Jacobson has some good knowledge in forensic science as that was the most interesting part of the book. His writing style needs growth as he uses too many cliches. Not a bad first attempt, but not a book I would highly recommend.
Rating: Summary: The more I read, the more disappointed I was Review: This is a so-so book with a poorly developed plot and disappointing characters. I had absolutely no one to root for. Madison was a wimp who let everyone do for him. Chandler, at the end, pulled the sheets over his head and went on with his dreary life. And how could the author drag us along through a boring trial and reward us with such a contrived ending? As a fellow writer, and an avid reader of the mystery-thriller genre, I believe the creative talent exists, but the author could do a lot better. Keep trying!
Rating: Summary: Get Ready to Stay Up All Night - You Can't Put the Book Down Review: This is a great read. If you like Grisham and Cornwell and Clark combined, this is a book NOT to be missed. It is a real sleeper and deserves to be on the best seller list. Don't miss this book
Rating: Summary: The narrator brings drama and suspense to the story Review: I purchased this audiobook because of the narrator, Zeljko Ivanek. He is an excellent actor, and I was looking forward to hearing his performance of this novel. His reading made this story come alive. He gave each character their own voice and tone, and presented the events in the book with with excitement. I highly recommend the audiobook version of this novel.
