Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Excellent beginning; fizzles out toward the end..... Review: When I first started reading Alan Jacobson's debut novel 'False Accusations', I thought it was one of the best mystery thrillers I have read it a long time. It starts out very strong and builds up a wonderful momentum. We hate Brittany, admonish Madison's impatient wife, are crazy over Chandler's intervention, feel very sorry for Madison, dislike Jennings and Denton and so on. The problem is about two-thirds of the way through, it loses a lot of its verve. The conflict between Chandler, Gray and Jennings is somewhat repititous and boring, and starts the biginning of the down-hill spiral. We never hear much about Harding during the trial and the court room dialog is extremely repetitive. I think Mr. Jacobson got himself caught-up in a plot he could not get out of and took the easy way out. By the way that is one stinkeroo of an ending, too. The book may appeal to amatuers but more sophisticated readers may not be satisfied.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Diabolical Review: (Originally submitted 02/13/00) Two people are run down in a vicious, deliberate hit and run on a dark Sacramento street. After the murder car is traced back to him and conclusive evidence is found in and about it, well respected Dr. Phillip Madison is arrested. The story he tells to his lawyer and investigators is that somehow, beautiful but psychotic Brittany Harding has committed the murders and framed him to exact revenge against him. It seems that Ms. Harding, about to lose her job with the charitable institution Dr. Madison is affiliated with, accused him of sexual harassment and, ultimately, rape. To protect his family and reputation, Dr. Madison paid her off; then, she reneged on the settlement agreement, causing his wife to leave him, whereupon Harding's lawyer insisted that the money be returned. After a series of startling confrontations and increasingly bizarre behavior on Harding's part, the killings occur and Dr. Madison is arrested. As his lawyer and investigators work diligently to find the evidence to clear him, the D.A. is gradually swayed and, before the case actually goes to trial, charges are dropped against Madison and Harding is arrested in his stead. The evidentiary procedures and courtroom scenes ring true and move forward at a fast, exciting pace. The last quarter of the book, with its chillingly diabolical twists and turns, is guaranteed to shock the reader and aficionados of the crime and courtroom genre will not be disappointed.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Now a national BESTSELLER! Review: I'm pleased-no, ecstatic-to report that False Accusations has just hit the BESTSELLER LIST! I want to thank all my readers for giving me this wonderful gift...
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Blown away by the ending! Review: I really enjoyed this book. I recommended it to my mother and several friends because I wanted desperately to talk about it with someone - but no one I know had read it yet. But believe me - they will! My mother just finished it. She called me at 2:30 this afternoon to talk about it and she was as blown away as I was with the ending. Since we are both avid readers we find that we read a few books that are not worthy, but False Accusations was not in that category. While my mother supports her local library, I am still building mine one book at a time. I look forward to adding more titles by Alan Jacobson!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: What a great read! Review: Alan Jacobson is a writer with extraordinary talent, intelligence, and fine eye for detail. I couldn't put it down. This is a sure best-seller and film candidate. Ann Brandt author of "Crowfoot Ridge"
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A Must Buy, Fast Paced, Heart Stopping Thriller Review: I was so immersed in this book that, even after my plane landed, I continued to read it as I walked through the airport terminal to get my luggage! If you relish an engrossing plot with characters that jump off the pages into real life becuase they remind you of people you know and love, then FALSE ACCUSATIONS was written for you. This is one phenomenal book....Alan Jacobson's next book is already on my birthday/holiday wish list!
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Shallow characters Review: This book made me angry at myself for taking the time to finish it. The characters were all one dimensional, shallow and uninteresting. The ending was completely out of character. What a waste!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Loved it, loved it, loved it! Review: Well-written, well-plotted, great characters. Kept my attention. These days I need a good book to escape everyday stress, and False Accusations fit the bill. Had a thought as to where it was going, but then the plot twisted and I had to start thinking all over again. This is one of the best books I've read this year. I told everyone in my office and two other people bought it. One read it overnight! We both agree: we loved this book.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Amateurish! Review: What a truly awful book! The characters were completely unbelievable and so cliched they made me cringe with embarrassment. The writing and dialogue were diabolical and the word 'amateurish' sprang out at me!I don't know about "couldn't put it down" - I just wanted to fling it across the room!!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Get the audio! Review: Man alive, was that fun! The narrator, actor Z. Ivanek, makes this thriller from start to finish. By use of voices and inflections, he takes us on Jacobsen's journey of innocence compromised, and never lets the listener down. You won't regret the purchase, let me tell you!
