Rating: Summary: Loved it! Great book. Review: Got this book on the recommendation of a friend and I'm glad I did. I found the plot so engaging, and the characters so real, that I kept thinking it was a true story. I read it in two days-I didn't want to put it down. I won't reveal the ending so I don't spoil it for others, but it really grabbed me. It was unexpected (though I felt like someting was up) yet in looking back, it made sense. Great read! I figure since I bought the book on a recommendation, I ought to recommend it to others too. It's worth it, easily one of the best books I've read in a few months (and I read about three books a month).
Rating: Summary: Will Take Over Your Life If You Let It... Review: In the immortal words of Murphy Brown, "Listen up, boys and girls, this is one great book". You know a book is GOOD when you give it priority reading status over more than 175 (last quick inventory) hard covers stacked in den, bedrooms, and living room (yes, over 175 purchased from amazon.com by this voracious reader and former library trustee in the past 18 months...what can I say, I love a wide variety of books...maybe should have purchased amazon.com stock!). You know a book is GOOD when you savor each page and do NOT want the story to end; the next book you pick up to read may not be as well written! You'll excuse me...I must return to False Accusations now and continue this excellent read. Thank you, Alan Jacobson, and keep on writing.
Rating: Summary: what about the ending????? Review: This is the first book I've read by Alan Jacobson. I could not put it down. The DNA stuff was some what boring....and what about the ending????? Jacobson gave no reason for the ending and I found it somewhat lacking. Other than that....the book was great.
Rating: Summary: Great Read But Sorry Ending! Review: I loved this book until I reached the last page and then I wanted to cry out in frustration! This book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The suspense just builds and builds and you keep thinking things are wrapping up too neatly and something awful is going to happen. I could not even guess as to what it could be but when I finally found out I was disappointed. The ending just does not seem to go with the rest of the story. It is very off and not believable and I felt cheated. Otherwise I enjoyed the book immensely. I found some parts to be a bit dull about the DNA and the repetition of Ms. Harding's deeds but all in all a commendable first novel. I look forward to reading "THE HUNTED" and hope the ending is better.
Rating: Summary: Excellent for a first time novelist. Review: Having been an avid fan of thrillers and suspense stories for over 35 years, I found this first-time work of Mr. Jacobson to be a real page-turner. He writes with an easy style and just enough guessing to keep one reading. Characters could be developed a little more, but other than that, a very enjoyable read. Can't wait till his next book.
Rating: Summary: A respected physician is accused of a double homicide. Review: Alan Jacobson's novel of suspense, "False Accusations," is about a prominent and philanthropic orthopedic surgeon named Phillip Madison. Dr. Madison has established a thriving practice in Sacramento, California. He is wealthy and highly respected in the community. He is also blessed with a lovely wife and two beautiful children. Dr. Madison's life is abruptly turned upside down when he meets an emotionally disturbed woman named Brittany Harding. Ms. Harding is filling in as an administrator for an organization to help the developmentally disabled. Since his brother is developmentally disabled, Dr. Madison devotes a great deal of time to this organization. When Harding turns out to be a liability as an administrator because of her tactlessness and spiteful tongue, Dr. Madison hints that she will most likely lose her job. Harding then sets out to ruin Dr. Madison's reputation, marriage and career. Harding's diabolical scheme works so well that Dr. Madison is in danger of losing everything that he has worked for his entire life. His troubles reach a crescendo when he is accused of a double homicide. Only Dr. Madison's lawyer, Jeffrey Hellman, and his friend, Ryan Chandler, a forensic specialist, believe in Dr. Madison's innocence and set out to exonerate him. "False Accusations" offers a sympathetic protagonist, intriguing police work and lively courtroom theatrics. Jacobson succeeds in maintaining a high level of suspense throughout the novel. However, stilted dialogue and an unbelievable ending keep the book from being a first rate thriller. Therefore, I give "False Accusations" a marginal recommendation.
Rating: Summary: Exciting Review: I really enjoyed this book. It left you brethless with anticipation of how the outcome would be. I can't believe how it ended. This is the first time I have read this author. I will read some more titles by him.
Rating: Summary: A BOOK TO SHORTEN YOUR COMMUTE Review: This book maded the time fly by. I always read while riding into work, but with this book I kept reading as I walked the six blocks from the station to my office. Others have found the story and it's ending to be less than believable, but I disagree. The "evidence" in the case was a bit light, but hey -- it's a book not a legal brief. I was thoroughly entertained, and in my book (excuse the pun) that's what I expect when I'm reading a novel. Way to go, Alan. I've already started "The Hunted" and am putting off what I'm supposed to get done for work this weekend to obsorb it.
Rating: Summary: Irritating ending - pretty dumb detectives Review: So, it takes a special investigator from across the country to think about ordering lip prints and DNA for the beer cans found in the back of the car? And what about those multiple chapters of the boring in-house fighting over jurisdiction over labs? Painful. And no cop ever asked about a second set of keys for his car? His wife had to come up with that? Pretty lame. And the ending was maddening -- who was the killer? You still don't know whether he is saying he did it or he is saying that circumstances forced her to do it. Gosh, anyone can get a book published I guess.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous Review: False Accusations was a truly riveting novel! I carried it everywhere - to the office, to lunch, to the doctor's office - because I simply couldn't put it down! My TV viewing suffered I couldn't be bothered to watch! I HAD to keep reading! I look forward with great anticipation to Dr. Jacobson's next novel. What a tremendous amount of enjoyment.
