Summary: A Good Beginning
Review: Give her a break! This book was written more than 10 years ago. I'd say Sandra Brown started out good and kept improving. I enjoyed the book. It's a quick and easy read.

Summary: Not the usual Sandra Brown ending
Review: I enjoyed the book up until the ending. Come on. The adopted kid that was a surprise to Ria??? Happily ever after, the end??? I hated this ending. It was a huge disappointment. It totally didn't go with the story. I felt left hanging at the end. This is rare for me not to thoroughly enjoy Sandra's writings.

Summary: Lacking Depth
Review: I enjoyed this book because it was an easy read. I thought that the 'one night stand' situation was totally believable. Until, they talked marriage. Come on! Who would really do that. I thought they were both extremely insensitive to one another. They had great sex on their minds, and little else. Nonetheless I found the book mildly entertaining. I would recommend it for an easy romance read. The sex scenes were hot. It's just too bad that nasty arguments were the only way to get them into bed.

Review: I had the opportunity to read this book while flying home. It held my attention all the way to the surprising end. I found the characters to be real and the story to be heart warming and lovely. I look forward to reading more of Sandra Brown's work.

Summary: Entertaining but simplistic
Review: I just finished reading Tidings of Great Joy, and it took me only a few hours. It is amusing and a few parts are even memorable, but it is far from flawless. The beginning is very choppy, and it only gets more interesting after the tragedy happens. There is not much character development, especially considering the minor ones. The emotions of the two main characters are flatly laid out, not with much sublety. It is highly predictable, aside from the very last scene, which, by the way, was very tacky. Nonetheless, after a long day, it can be distracting enough. If you are looking for something fast and uncomplicated, go for it.

Summary: A Disappointment would be putting it mildly...
Review: I'm a huge fan of Sandra Brown's, but I'm sorry, this book stunk. I'm not even finished with it yet, but almost, and I can't imagine that she's going to redeem herself in the last quarter of the book. I believe it could have been a good book, if she would have written it in usual Sandra Brown style. I had just finished reading The Alibi (for the 2nd time) and The Witness, so maybe I was expecting more from this book than what I got. Leaving the suspense part out of the Alibi and Witness, I still thought they were better love stories. I couldn't connect with either Ria or Taylor and usually I'm drawn in in the first few pages of her books. Personally, I'm not quite sure what Ria saw in Taylor and I'm no prude either, but the sex was a little too much. She could have written it better, I think. And I'm not slamming her, because she's a great author, but if her name wasn't splashed across the front of this book, I'd never guessed that she wrote it. It was too trivial for her. However, the Alibi is a wonderful book, along with The Witness, Breath of Scandal. Fat Tuesday and Mirror Image are also great reads.

Summary: A Magical Christmas, One Night Stand Thing
Review: Taylor MacKensie and Ria Lavender met during a Christmas party. They had a one-night stand and a few weeks later, Ria discovers she's pregnant. Ria proposes to Taylor, so her child would not be born illegitimate. And now Ria lives with him and shares everything with him. She discovers more about Taylor, his tenderness and his personality. Taylor begins to enjoy Ria's company and little by little they're living together in a comfortable way. But disaster strikes and could Ria and Taylor survive the obstacle together? And what about their previous mates before they met each other? I think this book is ok. Not all that good but not really bad either. It falls into that average level. I mean there is tenderness and the romantic part but it just seems a little bland compared to Sandra Brown's other books.

Review: The saving grace is that it is a short novel and a quick read. A one night stand on Christmas Eve results in a baby and life long love. Predictable and disappointing for a Sandra Brown book.

Review: This book is an insult to paper. It is shallow, and trite with no meaning. The ending is absolutely criminal in its stupidity. Giving a baby, another human being as a gift,....on a trial basis in case they don't like it?... my God how barbourous! Sandra I am ashamed of you!
