Review: I know I now need to get ready for all of the unhelpful reviews but at least I'm honest! The entire time I was reading this book I was asking myself why was I reading something so stupid! These ladies took "IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE" and changed it around to something so lame that I can't believe it was even published. I enjoy reading M. H. Clark because she has some nice, mild thrillers with great stories. This book was not a thriller, nor was it a great story! A lawyer is sent back to earth (to get his wings--hmmmmmmmmmm where have we heard that before?) to help a slightly sad little girl who has a great life. There, I've told you the story and you don't have to read it!
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Not Like Mary Higgins Clark Review: I read every single one of Mary Higgins Clark's hardcover books and none is like this. This book did not contain the trademark suspense thrilling storyline that I have come to love about Ms. Clark's writings. I just finished the book because I am an avid Mary Higgins Clark fan. But this book, unfortunately, was a big disappointment. However, I will continue reading anything this spectacular author produces.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Very Injoyable Review: I read many of the reviews and comments of others who had read the book and almost did not read the book for myself. There were so many unfavorable ratings. I throughly enjoyed reading the book. The story begins in Heaven. Sterling Brooks has been waiting 40 years in holding waiting to get into Heaven. He sees so many others pass by him and go on into Heaven but not him. The Heavenly Council decides to send Sterling back to earth to prove himself worthy of entry into Heaven. The rest of the story is about the events that unfold as he helps more than one person with a really big problem. He finds out about the joy of making another person happy and not always striving to please oneself. The book reminded me of the movies and TV shows we have seen;for example, "Ghost" with Patrick S.,"Highway to Heaven" with Michael L. and "Touched By An Angle". It's fun to relax and go into a fanasy and think of what it would be like if this could really happen. Who knows, maybe it does.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Very Disappointing Review: I should have stuck to what I said last year about not purchasing any of these little Christmas book by MHC and CHC. I had to force myself to read 30 or so pages. I am a HUGE Mary Higgins Clark fan, but I am staying away from her holiday books. They are poorly written, and boring. I read the other reviews before I purchased this book, but I should have gone with my gut instinct on this one. Also, it didn't help that right off the bat, Tara Lipinski's name was spelled incorrectly. You would think that someone would have caught that.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: He Sees You When Your Sleeping Review: I think this is a great book for all types of people. Sterling, the main character , had unforgetable encouters and helped the lives of several people. This book made me think of how life would be like after death and how good you should be to others. This story took place near Christmas. I would recomend reading it towards the end of the year. I recommend this book to everyone.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A nice novella for Christmas -- goes well with hearth/home Review: I've enjoyed virtually every Mary Higgins Clark book (all of them), including her last Christmas season book also co-authored with her daughter Carol (who I'm not particularly fond of), but it's not really obvious two authors are at work (unlike, for example, the two Stephen King - Peter Straub collaborations). This pleasant little tale of an angel wannabe coming back to earth to earn his full passage through the pearly gates has just enough plot, just enough character development, and just enough suspense to please -- with everything wrapped up so nicely at the end. But at the same time, I doubt the authors planned it for anything more than it is -- an hour and a half of nice-ness at Christmas time, very suitable for easy chair by the fire with a glass of wine while awaiting Santa. How does one complain about that?! Merry Christmas.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: I Wouldn't Recommend It Review: If I had to name my ten favorite plots from books, this one would not be on my list. It begins with Sterling Brooks, who died and was waiting to be admitted into heaven. After being judged, because of the self-centered life that he had lived, he was sent back to Earth to prove that he was worthy of his wings. His task was to locate someone who needed help, and to help them. After finding the heartbroken girl he was supposed to help, and, (with help from the Heavenly Council), going back in time to learn more about how her heart came to be broken, devises a plan that he thinks will bring back the girl's smile. Although every other book by Mary Higgins Clark that I have read was great; I did not really enjoy this one. The plot seemed totally different to anything she has ever written before, and was not one of those books that "put you on the edge of your seat." This is more of a heart-warming book, rather than suspenseful, which is most of Mary Higgins Clark's work. One reason I did not like this book was because of all of the things they said about heaven. I believe in heaven, but if I am going to read a book that talks about it a lot, I would like for it to be based upon facts, not opinions or fictitious thoughts. Although I liked some aspects of this book, for the most part, I did not enjoy it. This is the first of Mary Higgins Clark's books that I did not love. I would highly recommend her other books, and others may enjoy this one immensely, but it isn't a book that I would recommend.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Skip this one Review: It is a good thing, that the two Higgins Clarks authored this book together, this way they can shift the blame back and forth, although I suspect that most of the writing was done by Carol. The language is juvenile and the story is thin. The most disturbing and threatening part of the book came at the very end, when it became evident, that there are plans to make the publishing of the sequels an annual Yule tide ordeal. My advise is to stay away from them all
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A Delight. Review: It was a great story. The mother and daughter team of writers have done it again. Crafted a good story that made you care about the characters and kept your attention from first to last page.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: I must be some sort of a humbug, but.... Review: Like many Mary Higgins Clark fans, I raced to the bookstore to get my annual Higgins fix....and was sorely disappointed. I just read everyone else's review, so I see I'm in the minority, but I found this less than a page turner. I put it down SEVERAL times and didn't really care that much to pick it back up except that I felt I should somehow. I thought the characters were shallow with little real motivation. The plot was contrived. The outcome was obvious. The book had none of the suspense or twists I've come to admire. Just label me Scrooge, I guess!
