A little far-fetched but none-the-less an entertaining read. A book that is fun to read all year long not just during the holiday season.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Uplifting holiday piece Review: ... This is not intended to be a heavy read. It is a light and breezy holiday tale. With this in mind, the book fills the bill of a light, quick holiday read quite well. Who needs a big, heavy read during the hectic holiday season? I need a light escape. On that note:Sterling Brooks has spent nearly half a century as a bench warmer outside of heaven. He never did anything good enough to gain admission, but it seems that he mustn't have done anything bad enough to have to go the other way either. His sins were sins of omission. He didn't notice what needed to be done, thus he did not do it. Those on high decide to give him a chance to redeem himself. He is sent back to earth, to find someone who needs his help, and to help them. Upon his return to earth, he starts looking for who needs help, when he stumbles across the person who he knows almost immediately is THE person whom he was sent to help. He actually learns to see the plight of others, and learns to care. It is a cute, well spun tale. If you need a holiday distraction, this could well be it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Poignant tale Review: After forty-six years of sitting in the celestial waiting room right outside the gates of heaven, Sterling Brooks is finally summoned before the Heavenly Council. Eight female and male saints explain to Sterling that he did not use his time on earth performing good deeds. For the most part he remained an uncommitted and indifferent person, more interested in himself than anyone else. He is given a chance to make up for his previous failings on earth by returning there and helping a person who needs help badly. If he accomplishes his goal, he will be permitted to celebrate Christmas Eve in heaven. He appears in Rockefeller center where he meets a little girl named Marissa who wants desperately to see her father and grandmother. Unfortunately, they are in the witness protection program ready to give testimony that would send two gangsters away for life. Sterling's heart opens to the precious little princess and vows to reunite her with her relatives. How he goes about this and what he learns in the process might earn him a permanent place in heaven or doom him to eternal hell. Mary Higgins Clark and Carol Higgins Clark have created a beautiful parable that demonstrates the true meaning of the holiday spirit. HE SEES YOU WHEN YOU'RE SLEEPING will appeal to both the mainstream audience and those readers who like a supernatural novel. The two protagonists of this beautiful story will endear themselves to everyone who reads the book. Harriet Klausner

Review: Although I believe that Mary Higgins Clark is the best novelist of our times, this book was NOT one of her best. I personally was not intrigued by angels floating back to earth to set things right. Although there are touching moments in the book...I did not feel any suspense or sense of doom for any of the characters. You knew what was coming next! Definitely a book you can avoid this or any holiday season. Better Luck next time, Mary!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: New Twist on Old Premise Review: Even though this storyline has been done before, both in books and the film industry, the Clark women give this one a new twist and, so, the premise doesn't seem so old or "used" as one might think. Their style of writing is delightful, full of humor, which surprised me. A book very much worth reading.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A story both my wife and I enjoyed together! Review: He Sees You When You Are Sleeping is an entertaining, heartfelt and moving story about perseverance, redemption an most importantly, love! A story everyone will enjoy.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Just an average story by a couple of great writers Review: He Sees You When You're Sleeping by Mary Higgins Clark and Mary Higgins Clark in my opinion was just an average story by a couple of great writers. The thought of angels returning to earth to set things right for some in itself was a chilling thought to me contrary to what a lot of people may believe in in this realm. I certainly do not. That part of the story did not set well with me. But even so there were things in this story that I did enjoy. I believe the over-all plot or intended message of the story or the outcome of such is simply that of "redemption".
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Lightweight holiday yarn Review: HE SEES YOU WHEN YOU'RE SLEEPING is a good - not great - whimsical Christmas story. I read a few of Mary Higgins Clark's novels several years ago and enjoyed them. This collaboration with her daughter is not up to par with that earlier work, but it's still entertaining. It was a nice stocking stuffer gift. Sterling Brooks has been waiting outside Heaven's gate for many years and is given a chance to go back to Earth and help a sad little girl, to make up for his indifference to others throughout his life. The girl, Marissa, has been without her father and grandmother since Christmas, the year before. What Marissa doesn't know is that they had to go into the witness protection program because of something they witnessed after entertaining (they are singers) at a Christmas party thrown by mobster brothers. Sterling's job is to find a way to remove the threat separating Marissa from her dad and grandmother - not an easy task, but easier when you've got a few heavenly tricks up your sleeve. HE SEES YOU WHEN YOU'RE SLEEPING is short, sweet, amusing, sometimes a bit silly but altogether a decent story that can appeal to all ages. It's not particularly memorable, but it's a pleasant way to spend a cold winter's afternoon.

Sterling is sent to young Marissa to help her out in a sticky situation involving her family and the mob. Marissa's father and grandmother are sheltered in the witness protection program and Marissa cannot bear Christmas without them. This story is not meant to be heavy by any means. The plot could have definitely been developed more.
