Summary: A 'feel good' book with a life lesson...
Review: In my quest to read all of James Patterson's books, I stumbled across this one in a bargin book store. This book is not the murder mystery he is known for - it's more like SUZANNE'S DIARY FOR NICOLAS.

MIRACLE ON THE 17TH GREEN is set around golf - but don't worry about really understanding or having an appreciation of the game to read this book. This is a story about Travis McKinley who discovers he is not happy with his life and decides to make changes...starting with his job. The short story (only 150 pages) told in James Patterson style (short chapters) begins on one Christmas when Travis golfs the game of his life. From there his life begins to change - for the better. He discovers during the next year what really matters to him and his life takes on a clarity it has never had.

A good book that proves Patterson can write a good story no matter what the subject!

Summary: Fore!
Review: Know this: I don't play golf. But I understand and appreciate the game, which comes in handy for MIRACLE ON THE 17TH GREEN. I bought the book because is was co-written by Mr. Patterson, it was only 149-pages with short chapters, and it received some great reviews. Golf was not the key attraction here. Travis McKinley of Illinois, is 50 (but looks 42). His marriage is on the outs. He hates his job as an Ad copywriter. But that's ok; he just got fired. Now he's FREE! Free to attend golf school in Tallahassee, Florida, to qualify for 1-year on the PGA Seniors Tour. You see, on Christmas Day, Travis played a truly fabulous round of golf. He felt he was finally ready to play with the big boys. Next thing you know, he's at the PGA Senior Open at Pebble Beach with Ray Floyd and Jack Nicklaus, and Bill Murray cheering them on! In our daily lives we must believe in ourselves. We must make time for our families. We must NOT be late for Christmas dinner! And we must believe in miracles.

Summary: A believe in yourself make believe
Review: Like most miracles, this one has a happy ending, though it's not what you thought was coming, and there are plenty of missed shots in the mud and rain before the final flash of angel light stikes. "A guy who hates his job isn't going to be too charming at home." Pop tells Travis. The book is very easy to read, short chapters, each one like a golf hole finished that makes the reader want to rush on to the next tee. Good dialog, good secondary characters built with economy and wit. Every word counts, just like every swing counts. Non-golfers will like this book as well as golfers

Summary: Patterson with a twist
Review: Miracle on the 17th green is a book that you can read in one sitting partly because it's only 150 pages and partly because it is so good. Miracle on the 17th green is an inspirational, entertaining, and sometimes very funny book. I didn't really expect it to be funny since Patterson has never shown that he can be humorous but nevertheless it was. You don't have to know a lot about golf to like and understand this book. It would help though because Patterson adds some real life golfers into the story but you don't have to know the ins and outs of the game to understand. I am surprised that Patterson wrote this book since it is very different than his normal plots of serial killers but he pulls it off. I am sure this is sort of an autobiography for Patterson because he does like to play golf and he has probably always wanted to get his sense of humor into his books but never has found a way. Miracle on the 17th green is a great book and will bring a lot of inspiration into your day or maybe into the rest of your life. 5 Stars

Summary: Great read
Review: Miracle on the 17th Green is about a man in his earlyn50s that is married with three kids. He has always played golf from the age of nine with his grandpa. He stopped thinking about going pro when he meet his wife after high school. He has been playing lately and has found his edge again. He tries out for the PGA senior tour and makes it. Going along, he finally wins a big game and his wife talks to him about a divorce. When he wen't to Pebble Beach he was in the top five for a long time and then made the final three. On the final round on the green of the 17th hole, he walked up to Sara, his wife, and gave her the biggest ring she had ever seen. He then won the champian ship and kept playing for years to come.
Travis Mckinley, the main character, is a dynamie kind of character. He changes during the novel from not caring to loving, caring person. He is patiently in love with the game and his wife.
I thought the book was very good because I like golf and this kind of attitude. The book has a lot about his life growing up and how much he likes to play.
I would recommend this book to people that like golf and about people's lives. Also people who like sports would like this.

Summary: A feel good book!
Review: My husband who hasn't read a bok since Jonathan Livingston Seagull, read this and past it on to his other golfing buddies...some of them who are also "non readers." I feel as though I was Oprah, promoting reading to the masses! As for myself, I loved it and as a non golfer it helped me realize just what goes on on the green and in the mind of my over 40 golfer husband.

Summary: Felt like I was playing the game, not reading the book!
Review: Probably the best fiction I've ever read about the game of golf! I sat down and read straight through the book without a pause.

Summary: great story that articulates a dream many golers have
Review: Short, sweet and delightful story that any golfer with a sub 10 handicap in his 40's would kill to live out. The sub plot of how Travis and Sarah deal with a relationship that is very typical of our time adds a sense of reality to what is otherwise a fantastic dream come true. Short read that is best golf story I have read to date.

Summary: Move over Dan Jenkins !
Review: Simply put, this little book is the finest golf yarn ever told. It is a prescription for feeling good about the game and good about yourself. Every golfer who reads this book will find some part of him/her there. It isn't necessarily the plot, but the excellence and believability of the conveyance that makes it effective. If you read it once, you will surely read it again.
