Rating: Summary: This book embodies every competitive golfer's dream Review: I bought this book as an impulse buy and read it right away, in one fell swoop. It is a great story that speaks the dreams of tens of thousands of golfers who are competent and have the belief that somewhere inside them is the kind of golf they somehow know they can play. The book is uplifting and humorous, and offers encouragement, even though it is fiction. A great, quick book that you'll be happy to have read.
Rating: Summary: Humorous, Emotional and Perfect. Review: I enjoy the fast paced novel that makes you feel good. And this work by James Paterson is just that. A touching story of mid life and love lost. Travis McKinley is a lifelong golfing enthusiast who has an epiphany on Christmas morning and can finally sink any putt he needs. After this dramatic improvement in his game he gets let go from his position in an advertising firm. He decides that there is no time like the present to join the Senior PGA tour. He makes serious money playing a game he has loved all his life. He is in the most picturesque locations and living the life, however he is miserable because he is losing the one woman he has ever loved. And then the miracle happens. This is one of the best books I have ever read, I highly recommend it. At only 149 pages (paperback) it is long enough to tell the whole story, yet short enough to leave out all the minute details that do not make a difference. This book should get 6 stars, or more, but the scales does not go that high, we will have to settle for a 5. Thanx for your time, T
Rating: Summary: A par-fectly good book Review: I enjoyed this book even though I have never played a round of golf. This book had miracles in it and I like the fact that miracles can happen to an ordinary person. I know almost nothing about golf but that didn't stop me from liking this book.
Rating: Summary: Maybe I Just Don't Get It Review: I found this to be a very unsatisfactory read. It was predictable and did not inspire any sense in me of caring about the characters. Thankfully it was short, although perhaps its brevity is what prevented the plot and characters being developed sufficiently. At any rate, my reaction after reading it was essentially, "so what?"
Rating: Summary: Great read Review: I had this book on audio, purchased because it was cheap and it was by James Patterson and I figured it would kill three or four hours in the car. It languished on my bookshelf until I picked it up just recently. All I have to say is that I am sorry I waited so long. This story is so wonderful and lovely that I was just drawn in and held there. I thought about the story when I wasn't listening to it. You're pretty sure how it's going to end when you start listening to it, yet you listen anyway and the story never ceases making you feel good. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: Unbelievable, wonderful little story Review: I had this book on audio, purchased because it was cheap and it was by James Patterson and I figured it would kill three or four hours in the car. It languished on my bookshelf until I picked it up just recently. All I have to say is that I am sorry I waited so long. This story is so wonderful and lovely that I was just drawn in and held there. Rating: Summary: Good But Not Great! Review: I like the plotline and this author is very good. But it felt as if he was rushing to finish the book. A lot more elaboration is needed. And I'm still wondering what the miracle was. It if was what happened on the 17th green than the book needs a new title. It might sound as if I hated the book but I didn't, it's actually quite good the previous things excluded.
Rating: Summary: Warm, funny, inspirational -- a winner Review: I picked the book up at the library on Saturday at 5 p.m. I was finished reading it by 7:30. As an avid golfer, I was attracted to the title; as an avid reader, I couldn't put it down. Great story, great writing, great time reading it!
Rating: Summary: Read this book if you have been a little short on miracles. Review: I read this book on a cross-country flight while sitting in the first-class cabin. Every time the cabin attendant came by to provide me with food or drink, I looked up with large, gooey tears falling from my eyes. I can't imagine what she thought. If you are a having troubles on the job or at home and are a little short in the miracle department, spend a few short hours with James Patterson and Peter DeJonge. I promise it will be a worthwhile endeavor
Rating: Summary: Great read. A complete afternoon of enjoyment Review: I've read all of James Patterson's work and this one is right up there. It is a completele departure from the murder, thriller, page-turner. However, it's a great Walter Mittyesque story that is as much about finding yourself as anything else.
