Rating: Summary: A good if flawed comprehensive. Review: With the exception of a gaping gorge of missing data critical to "knowledge of God" this is a fairly good compilation of current understanding held by most on the Spiritual Path. There is also an erroneous conclusion that Deepak Chopra has made in his comprehensive, that the soul enters an "incubation period" upon death. There is no death since time does not, in fact, exist and cannot be proven to exist by any scientist or logician. Since we are here and now, we are here and now forever, despite any change of perceptual venue, form, appearance, or conceptual reality. Temporal reality is perceptual only, in the mind and a construct of human consensus. It does not and cannot in fact, exist. A "period of incubation" implies the existence of a temporal reality beyond our own fixation of one at the perceived material level. Those who have traveled beyond the mind body fixation know of the astral and causal planes beyond the Earth or Third Dimensional Plane. The soul or the more permanent "Self" is known to enter one of these "heavens" after the transition called death and the shedding of the atomic sheath called the body. This is a change of mind, not a death. These entire fields of traditionally acknowledged comprehension is mysteriously left out in this otherwise proficient work, while being prominent in many now classic studies of existence. ###
Rating: Summary: The Ultimate Opportunity Review: This amazing book gives the reader the ultimate opportunity: To create and generate the experience of God, available in each and every moment, under all circumstances and in the face of every challenge life has to offer. We discover through this process that God has been present all along, drawing us nearer. We are fortunate to have this book as a tool to our path of spiritual evolution.
Rating: Summary: God is an alien? What the... Review: According to Deepak Chopra, No, God is not an alien. He is not even a she, nor is she an it. God is you, the human reading this review. A very enlightening telling of how people are naturally connected to God through brain physiology and the only constant in the known universe: energy. Deepak's theories are brought to life with awe inspiring tales of healing, holiness, and humanity. He creates a bridge that crosses over many religions to find the one truth to which we are all connected. This book is not meant as an instruction guide, but it will hopefully give you the opportunity to create a mental prism which will refract intelligent light in many different directions.
Rating: Summary: Know Thyself First, Then You'll Know God Review: This is an interesting book to help one understand what makes a popular guru. The problem with the book, however, is that Chopra does not understand the spiritual process after the first four of seven steps. After step four he is left to speculate and theorize about Spirit. A better approach would be to start with the self that one knows and transform it into a Spiritual Self. To be able to do this the author would have to be interested in the deeper spiritual thinkers that can be found through Anthroposophy ("The Wisdom of Man"). If he ever did this, he might lose his great popularity.
Rating: Summary: A book strictly for the open minded Review: Three years ago, when I strictly lived off every word of the bible, I would have considered this book the "work of the Devil." But after a few years of religious research and a tragic death of a cousin, my thoughts and views on God, love and life were redefined. I began to see the beauty of humanity and an entire world of experience and spiritual growth in which I previously denied myself on account of religious dogma. My entire thought process became anew and there was beauty and honesty in the same world I once saw as demonic and chaotic. Deepack Chorpa touches on these experiences and many of the revelations I received on my personal search for understanding were constantly confirmed throughout this book. I could go on and on about how this book has touched me but I'll let you see for yourself. Anyway, one thing I've learned throughout my own pilgrimage for truth is we should never allow any person, religion, organization, country or whomever, strip us of the greatest gift given to us by God, and that is the ability of dream and believe as you see fit. Thanks. Sean C
Rating: Summary: Inspiring Review: To add to the many excellent reviews of this book already listed, I would recommend the tape as well. Chopra narrates. It's great to here him tell the story. This book has so many profound statements. I found myself wanting to write them down for future reference. It is an inspriration.
Rating: Summary: insightfull Review: Deepak Chopra's how to know god is a must for all to read, A true Prophet.
Rating: Summary: A Spiritual Roadmap; Deeply Inspiring Review: Phenomenal... This book not only shows the evolution of one's perception of God, but shows one where they are on the road, and what the next step is. Fabulously practical, easy to understand and absorb, and just brimming with common sense and simplicity. Utterly elegant. Destined to become a classic in spiritual literature. I have recommended it to all of my friends. I can't wait to read it again!
Rating: Summary: Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places.... Review: Am a little over half-way through the book. I have been reading in the last several years various titles on religion, spirituality, and quantum physics. Having been raised a Catholic, including Catholic schools, I was taught to believe that it is the One True Church. I never really bought the program, though. Dr. Chopra's book is helping me to pull all my thoughts together in a most profound way. Interestingly enough, a few days ago, I read where scientists discovered that humans share several genes with the fruitfly. This is so amazing. To a skeptic like myself, Dr Chopra's scientific approach is very satisfying. I think looking for god all around me is the answer, not in religion.
Rating: Summary: A Book for the Soul Review: I felt like my eyes were closed and my soul was speaking to me as I read Deepak Chopra's book, "How to Know God." I have read the book twice and find that no matter how many times you read Chopra's messages you will learn more about yourself and your relationship with God. It's worth every read.
