Summary: How did Jack and Jill get to be a bestseller?
Review: 114 Chapters - get real! This book is poorly written in all aspects - organization, loose ends in the plot, character development, unreal dialog, too many unanswered questions. Can't imagine how this feeble effort got to be a bestseller...

Summary: INXS
Review: Almost everything is just a little too excessive in this novel. I'd previously read three of his books and was most impressed by Along Came A Spider and Kiss The Girls (Hide and Seek was just an embarrassment and must have been written by someone else!). Jack and Jill is OK but Patterson just seems to over reach -there're too many plot lines, too many italicised statements (although the device works very effectively when used with discretion) and too many almost irrelevant murders eg Sumner whatsisname. But the biggest flaw was not linking the two plot lines -Patterson clearly needed the kid killer plot to make his point about ghetto life, but any first year pol sci student whould be able to make a case for linking national politics with local level poverty, so why couldn't Patterson.

Summary: Jack and Jill climbed way up the Hill
Review: B.S Readers in Cleveland We all agreed that James Patterson's book, Jack and Jill was a good book. The suspense kept us into it and wanting to read more. We liked the interweaving of the two plots in one story. Different killers made the story interesting and more challenging to read. Patterson really made us think. Every time we thought we had figured something out, the plot gets twisted. (The best was the twist when Cross found the "supposed" Truth School killer dead.) The one thing that was very disappointing was the end. It seemed as if Patterson rushed through it. However, by dangling the plot, there is room for a sequel. We were angered that Patterson didn't reveal the motive of the killers. Also, the CIA is always involved in conspiracies and we felt it wasn't dumb to include it in the story. We did like how Alex Cross had more to him than just detective work. By including the kids, it showed that he was human and had feelings.

Summary: First James Patterson book I read and I LOVED IT!!!!
Review: Bonjour...this is the first book I read of James Patterson's and I truly enjoyed every page. I love short chapters and he is truly the master of it...this kept my eyes glued to the pages and mind constantly thinking "whodunit." I highly recommend this book to all! Thank you Monsieur Patterson!!!

Summary: Worth the read on a long flight across country.
Review: Decent read. It has a lot of stuff going on and it does not seem to get all of the plots satisfied sufficiently. The main character, Alex Cross is one that you want to pursue. The sub plots could be pursued more also. I would recommend. Take a long flight across country and read the book

Summary: Tried to do too much in one book; loose ends.
Review: Each of the two stories would have been better standing on their own. While I understand the comparison the author was trying to make, there was too much story for one book and therefore both stories lost by it. Not enough on the motivation, background of the main characters which would have been interesting to see what made them tick and how they got to that point in time. I like Alex Cross and his family. By the time I got to the end of the book, I felt I didn't exactly know what happened and why. It just sort of ended.

Summary: Classic Patterson
Review: First let me start by saying I love Patterson. I have read 4 so far and am looking for his older books. I think Jack and Jill is the best yet. It is an original story line that keeps you glued to the book. I couldn't wait to see what happened next. Both stories going at the same time keep me reading through the each chapter to get to the next. I thought they should have made a movie out of this book. I agree the Denzel Washington would have made a better Alex Cross or maybe Larence Fishborne! I can't wait to see who will be Samson.

Summary: I loved the audio version of this book!!
Review: I am usually a person to read books, however I recently obtained the audio version of "Jack and Jill". It is fantastic! The reader keeps your attention by use of emotional inflection and even changes his voice for different characters. I listened to this book in my car and no longer dispised traffic jams! I can't wait to HEAR "Pop goes the Weasle"...

Summary: Fast moving and hard to put down
Review: I have enjoyed James Patterson's books. Jack and Jill was no exception. Running two simultaneous story lines, with entirely different villains, kept me turning the pages. The short chapter format made it even harder to put down. "Just one more chapter, then I'll go to bed" doesn't work when the chapters are so short. You are compelled to keep going! I admit I would have liked a better ending, at least finding out who was behind the presidential assassination. But all in all, it held my interest, and I look forward to Patterson's next book

Summary: James Patterson just keeps getting better!
Review: I loved Kiss the Girls and Along Came A Spider, and felt that Jack and Jill was a continuation of a look into one mans life. Patterson created a terrific character in Alex Cross. I can't wait for the next Cross book.
