Rating: Summary: The Mark Review: Another great book in the Left Behind series. This book really opens up Revelations and gives us a glimpse of what the end times will be like. The whole series is a must read for Christians and should really enlighten non-Christians. I'm very lucky one of the authors lives in my home town. Thanks and keep 'em coming!!
Rating: Summary: What a wonderful time to be a Christian lover of literature! Review: For so many years, a Christian's only real option to read quality Christian literature was to read the marevelous C.S. Lewis. I feel blessed in the the last couple of years with the outpouring of quality literature now available. What's more, the different books are all very different. Left Behind is a wonderful introduction to the theology behind the End Times and a great series for all ages. We All fall down is a great book for more mature, intellegent Christians who wsnt to explore the individual ramifications of the End Times and the one on one relationship of a man who has fallen away from God. The Christ Clone Trilogy is a thrilling, Tom Clancey like look at these events, full of unexpected twists and turns. I know some people like to argue the various merits of these books as compared to each other, but I think they are all worth reading and feel lucky to finally have such a wide variety of GREAT Christian literature available.
Rating: Summary: Left Behind Series by Tim LaHaye, Jerry B. Jenkins Review: I have read the entire series and have just received the latest book--Desecration--AntiChrist Takes the Throne. As a student of the biblical book of Revelation--the Left Behind series follows the biblical prophecies very accurately while mixing in a very plausible plot as to how the prophecies affect the central characters as well as the world around them. Some people may not like some of the religious overtones in the books--but that should cause people to think about themselves and the time we are living in. The series is also very timely based on world happenings since September 11th. The eyes of the world are once again being turned to the Middle East. My only complaint with the series is that the process is being dragged out so that many more books can be written before we get to the final stage. I will tip off the ending though. God wins!
Rating: Summary: Great Review: The Mark is an excellent book. Page turning and full of action.
Rating: Summary: Terrifying read Review: If you are not a born-again Christian, this book (as well as the rest of the series will terrify you) as it is true to the book of Revelation in the Bible. I find it an excellent read, well researched ... however, some of the plot seems far-fetched. But it is labeled fiction, isn't it? The story is credible, the characters are realistic, and it is true to the facts. Great read, couldn't put it down and will be buying "Desecration" tomorrow.
Rating: Summary: The Mark on audio cassette Review: I listened to all 8 books in the Left Behind series on audio cassette. The first 7 audio books were read by Richard Ferrone. The 8th book was read by Frank Muller. Mr. Muller does not pronounce the name of one of the main characters, Zion Ben Juda, the same way it was pronounced in the first 7 books. This change becomes very distracting and detracts from the enjoyment of the story. One wonders why the authors or the publisher allowed the change to be made in the middle of a series. Serious consideration should be given to changing back and rerecording book 8 for the benefit of future listeners. The series beginning with "Tribulation Force", book 2, begins to drag. It needs to cover more than one judgment, woe, etc., per book and spend less time summarizing what happened in prior books.
Rating: Summary: Better to start with the original Review: I usually finish reading a Left Behind book feeling like I've spent my money wisely. I actually felt guilty for finishing it so fast! Yes, The Mark has an interesting plot and is very intense, but I wished the plot would move along faster and that the book had more content and less dialouge. You be the judge, I would suggest borrowing it or checking it out from the library.
Rating: Summary: An AMAZING SERIES OF BOOKS Review: Anyone who has enjoyed the Left Behind series owes it to themselves to read The Christ Clone Trilogy by James BeauSeigneur. The entire CHRIST CLONE TRILOGY is very well written. I simply couldn't put them down. I suggest you read this series with a highlighter nearby so you can mark things and research them for yourself. This is made easier by BeauSeigneur's use of footnotes. The Christ Clone Trilogy will surprise you with nearly every page. I highly recommend this trilogy to anyone who wants to understand biblical prophecy and the book of Revelation. BUY THESE BOOKS, READ THEM, GIVE THEM TO YOUR PASTOR TO READ, AND BUY COPIES FOR YOUR FAMILY!
Rating: Summary: Start and Stop action and a scary 3rd quarter. Review: After the events that take place in the 'Indwelling', Nicolae Carpathia (Satan) has now declared himself a deity, and has taken a more aggressive stand against those who choose not to worship him by veiled speeches and manipulative gestures. While sporadic throughout the book, Nicolae's demeanor and character development has definitely changed. Still charming on the outside, his means of setting up a one world dictatorship/religion have sent the world populace in taking up a more definitive side...with him or against...and those against face death. We see plots that were introduced within the first two novels finally come to fruition in book eight. We learn that the 'Mark' (of the beast) will now be administered to people as a symbol of loyalty to Nicolae and his regime, and those that refuse will be beheaded. About 3/4ths into the novel there is a scene that takes part in Greece where religious and criminal prisoners are being kept. They will be among the first to choose the Mark or deny it, and in a very moving and emotional chapter, a young woman's refusal of the Mark and her subsequent beatings and beheading bring other fence straddler's to Christ, while others clearly choose Nicolae. This chapter I found to be the darkest and morose chapter yet, but very inspiring at the same time. Three other characters get a lot of attention in this novel: 1) Hattie Durham, after certain personal events, finally makes up her mind on her future and where she stands in these end days, 2) Chaim absorbs as much biblical training as possible from Ben-Judah, possibly to lead Jewish survivors to New Zion, and finally 3) David Hassid who must overcome a personal crisis in New Babylon concerning a loved one and realizes he only has days left within the Carpathia regime to flee or receive the Mark. How will he escape, and how will he retain his knowledge of Nicolae's inner circle. All other characters are present with little sub-plot development other than the books climax where Rayford Steele, as re-invigorated leader of the Tribulation Force starts handing out aggressive assignments for his people. Overall, I found this novel a bit slow and stretched out at times, but there are definitely moments of extreme tension, and a sense of urgency amongst central characters. The climax ends with Nicolae returning to Israel, where his true colors will be shown to the Jews and God's next judgment will be revealed to the world.
Rating: Summary: Christ Clone is a lot better! Review: I kept reading Left Behind hoping it would get better. It didn't. I also read (actually started reading) We All Fall Down, but there the foul language was SO EXCESSIVE I couldn't keep going. Finally I read the books of The Christ Clone Trilogy (why do I feel like Goldilocks here?) and it was "just right!" Actually it was GREAT! So if you're tired of Buck and Rayford playing James Bond, and all the females in the LB world cooing, have a look at The Christ Clone Trilogy.
