Rating: Summary: Pure marketing... Review: I absolutely agree with one of the previous reviewer of this book (cdlana from Bishop, CA USA). Although first book in this series was rather slow, next two or three books really kept me up almost all nights reading them. Unfortunately, it took me seven books to realize that this whole series is becoming more and more a clever marketing plot. And it's not just because the authors always leave everything unresolved in the end, forcing readers to look for a next book, but this last one really got me. C'mon guys, in all those previous books you were talking about how important it is to make a choice between accepting or rejecting "mark of the beast". Bible clearly says there could be no half-way through this, or so you said. Now, here we go. You're actually contradict it in this book #8. All this just to make sure you keep the plot hot and your readers willing to buy another book of yours. Let me tell you, you have just lost one of your readers.
Rating: Summary: The best one yet!! Review: I have read all of the Left Behind books and for me The Mark was the best one of all. It moves alot faster than the others. The others sometimes get bogged down with alot of information that they use to just take up space, but with The Mark I never felt like that. It's worth the money and time to read.
Rating: Summary: Stop Stalling Already Review: Now I have been an avid fan of these books. I am one of the fans that would wait at the bookstore the day it came out and read the whole book before the sun went down. OVer the past 2 books, however, the stalling has become utterly ridiculous. I used to defend the authors when people would down the books because they believed that the authors main motivation was money. Now I believe them! The series was supposed to be 7 books long and that was apparent in the intial 4 books, but as popularity grows they get slower and slower. No one cares about these no name characters. It's like you wait 6 months for the book to come out because he waits till page 400 (out of 450) to get a plot and a climax going and then he leaves you hanging. Mr. LaHaye you have an obligation to you fans (the ones who keep you on the best sellers list) to write quality novels, not books with a start, garbage in the middle, and a cliff hanger in the end.
Rating: Summary: Almost finished in one day Review: I got the book as a Christmas gift and as of 12/26 I will have it completed. It again is a book that you really could get lost in and find yourself up to all hours trying to finish it. Unlike the others there are spots you can stop and get some sleep if you have to work in the morning, but I can not wait to clock out and go and finish this one. Great series, only problem is you have to wait so long for the next one to be released.
Rating: Summary: An epic installment that dosen't have all the ingredients Review: I love epic stories and overall this undertaking is very good. Being Christian I find myself suggesting these books to non-christians hoping they can understand what is at stake in this world. However, as an avid reader of literature in general I can't help but wish that a more talented author had control of this story. While entertaining the storyline seems glanced over intead of actually examined. I have always thought that each installment of this series could be at least 100 to 200 pages longer in order to establish story lines and develop character plots. I understand that this epic has a long way to go, but I give the thought that a more developed story will be a benefit even though distribution may be longer. My example would be Stephen King's Dark Tower series, which may be the longest unfininshed epic written to date. Overall I recommend this book to readers who have kept up with the story to date. To give credit to Mr. LaHaye and Mr. Jenkins, this story is very captivating and I will be a loyal reader until the conclusion
Rating: Summary: Best by far Review: I thought that this book was the best by far. The martyrs made me really stop and think, could I do this if I had to? I think this book makes the Tribulation more real and it really hit home. I really took this book personal, and it made me cry. I am glad I won't be here when all these things happen, and have to make these choices. I am really looking forward to the next book. But why do we have to wait so long?
Rating: Summary: Read a real Christian writer Review: Dig up some old C.S. Lewis - he was a much better Christian writer (and writer, period).
Rating: Summary: Thought provoking Review: Exciting and thought provoking. The message is perfect for those who are not saved. I think that it's great this is a long series of books. I don't know why some complain about that, you have series of a lot of books, movies and television shows. However, you should purchase and read the book on amazon.com titled Apocalypse South by Kyle F. Watson its a great book and has a ending.
Rating: Summary: The Mark: Book 8 continues the intrigue Review: I find it hard to believe that many of the reviewers of this book have actually read the "Left Behind" Series. This series offers up great action written very much in a "Star Wars" style. "The Mark" starts to bring to a close storylines which have continued throughout the "Left Behind" series.I highly recommend you read "Left Behind" and continue through the series to "The Mark." Much like "Star Wars," The true rewards of this series may not be realized until it is complete.
Rating: Summary: Oppurtunity Lost... Review: I have been an avid reader of this series since its inception and I feel that each book in the series is getting progressivly worse. There were so many character and plot developments that were ignored or missed in this story that I feel like I colud have completely missed it and yet be up to date with the series. I feel as if the authors are milking this series for all its worth, and to continue producing a text every six months they are sacrificing all of the elements of the story. So many characters and story lines were just ignored by the authors. Let's get into the head of the new Carpathia - heck you are dealing with the Antichrist here!! What about Fortunato, Carpathia's loyal aide? And what is this new "Co-operative" all about? How about christian organizations in other regions of the world? I am a christian so i don't want to sound cold or heartless, but i felt that the book spent too much time trying to evangelize and not enough time on the good stuff involved in the story. If I wanted a text on evangelization or apoligetics I would have spent my time with different texts. I know that there are many non-believers that are purchasing the book, but i felt that there were too many altar calls in the book. All in all I would prefer that the authors worked on putting out one excelent book every year than trying to meet the production schedule they presently have. It's embarassing to see a book with 3 inch margins and 14 pt text placed on the market just to make a buck. I look forward to a better effort in the future.
