Rating: Summary: It's become a joke Review: Don't buy it! Don't contribute to the publisher and author greed. The writing is trash, the character development is deploring, and even the story line makes the Great Tribulation seem like a cool and exciting place to be. It won't be! If you become a Christian after the rapture you'll probably be tortured to death. Don't think that the end will simply be "off with your head" - nice and quick. It'll be painful and horrific. You won't be jetting around the world like you're James Bond - you'll be crawling around on the ground eating dirt to survive. Wake up. If you want to know what the end will be like read "We All Fall Down." If it doesn't change your life, then you are already dead and heading to hell.
Rating: Summary: Cmon, Get with it. Review: All of you people who give it one star and also say youve read all eight books are hypocrits. If they're so uneventful in plot stop reading them but don't complain about it and then go out and read the next book.
Rating: Summary: The Mark: The beast rules the world Review: Hello, I have read all of the left behind series so far, and as a christian teen, i am fascinated with God,Not only do these books capture me, they fascinate me. Lahaye and Jenkins are masterful writers. I reccomend this book and this series to anyone. No matter what some people say, the only reason that they would not like these is because they do not agree with the material. This series is meant to apeal to a wide range of people and so it does. I applaud Jenkins and LaHaye for capturing millions of people with these.
Rating: Summary: I loved it! Review: Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins have created a wonderful, believable account of the days following the Rapture. These books have kept me riveted. Some people have claimed that the books are for small-minded adults. I happen to be a very well-read individual, and I feel that "The Mark" keeps me intimately close with the characters with whom we have now spent eight books. The characters are real and the biblical references are well-drawn and continue to be a force that encourages me to not be "Left Behind."
Rating: Summary: Bored with this interminable story! Review: I've had it! I stuck with this stuff out of loyalty, but you can count me teminably frustrated. The story doesn't go anywhere! Same old rehash, fiddle-faddling around, dragging the reader into yet another book like a Saturday afternoon matinee--"continued next week." I've been taking to heart some of the other recommendations for alternative EndTimes stories made here, and of the three other books I've read, Kleier's THE LAST DAY is unquestionably the best. It seems to me that if you're going to write an Apocalyptic thriller, you should at least get your money's worth of thrills, not to mention a measure of suspense and provocative spiritual thought!
Rating: Summary: critics unfair Review: I just finished this book, and I thought it was wonderful. The authors have been doing a great job with this series, and I would like to make some comments to the people who have been giving somewhat harsh reviews. First, the authors are doing a good job with not repeating material. I know that in other series I have read with more than 3 books a lot of the material starts to sound the same with different character names and places. They have been very good at coming up with new situations and challenges throughout the series. Secondly, they have to keep introducing new characters. The majority of the planet's population is going to die - if they don't keep brining in new people there will be no one to write about. Besides, the point of their work is to keep bringing in new believers. What good is it to introduce them to the kingdom and them drop them? I am impressed with the authors' ability to keep their characters realistic. Each of them still struggles with their own human fears and failings while trying to live the best the can for God in the trying times they live in. If people don't like the series, they are under no obligation to read it. Anyway, I think this is an excellent series and I can't wait for the next one!!
Rating: Summary: I QUIT Review: I am stopping with book 8, which is about 5 books further than I should have given this series. What could have been a powerful ministry for LaHaye and Jenkins has instead become a powerful financial opportunity. I noticed that the copyright on the last book, dealing with the resurrection of antichrist, occurred almost exactly 3 & 1/2 years from the copyright of the original, Left Behind. I assume what started out as a 7 book series has now turned in to a 7 year series. What if they think about writing a series dealing with the next part, the 1000 year reign of Christ? Why, Left Behind may someday be bigger than Microsoft!
Rating: Summary: I have to disagree....The Mark is another shining sequel! Review: I have to disagree with alot of the other reviews I see here. I have been reading the series from the very beginning and still can't wait until each book is out. Like one reviewer, I usually preorder it and inhale it within a few hours. Each installment, I feel, is very well written and understandable whether you are familiar with the subject matter or not. While I do get anxious waiting for months for the next one to come out, I certainly feel the wait is worth it. I am also glad that the series has been extended past the 7 book limit. I'd much rather have a longer, well-written series than a shorter, hurried and thrown together one. As well-written as the books are, you can't expect to spend six books getting only 3 1/2 years in and then throw the whole other 3 1/2 years into one single last book. I'd rather enjoy the rest of the story than to be disappointed. This book, like the ones before it, is quite enjoyable and worth reading. As well as being biblically based, the story and characters are very interesting.
Rating: Summary: Clearly Inferior to the Rest Review: I have read all of the books in this series and I feel that this one does little for the series. Not with the wonder, politics, and action that made the first one a (legitimate) success, this new one is a cash cow and that is apparent to everyone. I thought this would be a 7-book series, but because of its success, who knows how long this can go on? The authors can continue to put mediocre books on the shelves and they will be blockbusters regardless of their quality. This book aparently contradicts itself when the young Asian boy recieves the mark of the beast, but still can be saved. There are some good parts to this book, like the escape from the gas station and the plot to get the believers out of Dodge, but all in all it is an average book. And I expect better from such a blockbuster sucess.
Rating: Summary: Little activity in this book Review: Overall, I've enjoyed the Left Behind series. The latest volume, The Mark, falls short. Very little happens here. It can be summed up as: More people are brought to Trib Force HQ. Some believers die. The Beast starts requiring the mark. Three sentences expanded into 400 pages. I'm a Christian. I like the series. But I can't abide seeing the Christian authors milking the Christian public (and others) for all they can. This is the sort of thing that puts Christianity in a bad light.
