Rating: Summary: LAHAYE AND JENKINS HAVE DONE IT AGAIN! Review: This is just another excellent story in the Left Behind series. Can't wait for the next book to come out!
Rating: Summary: not the best of the series Review: Don't get me wrong -- I love this series and its message. And this book was very good. Up until the end. It seemed very anticlimactic. The book races along at breakneck speed up until the end. Very disappointing. I rated this four stars because it was quite good in and of itself -- they just needed to rewrite the final chapter (maybe even add a few) to make it better. I only hope that the next book will be better. This book only aided me in wishing for the end of the series to make its mark in the bookstores. Though an avid reader of the series, this only makes me wish for the series to come to a final conclusion. I'm hoping that it will be awesome, but from the last two books, I fear that the end will -- like the end of this book -- it will also be ineffectual and very anticlimactic.
Rating: Summary: The left behind series Review: I am not a reader. I am one of those people that prefer to wait for the movie. A friend of mine gave me the first 2 books in the series to read. She said I had to read them in order. I had them for 2 weeks before I finally picked one up and started reading. I have to be 100% honest. I expected the book to be just another book. The fact is that I couldn't put it down. I right away fell in love with the people in this story. I couldn't help myself. You can't help but like them. I feel the reason for this is because they are just like real people. People like you and me. I have read all the books in the series, and I as usual can't stand waiting for the next to come out. The plots are gripping and you never know what is around the next corner. Most of the time I don't see what is coming. These books are written for the avrage person in mind. Easy to follow and diffacult to put down. If you like a mystery these are books to read. I have had my children read the childrens set. They too can't wait for the next to show up on the shelf. If your like me and don't enjoy reading, you won't be sorry. It is also interesting how the writers perspective on future events will shape our future. It will give you insite to where you should be in life.
Rating: Summary: What A Let Down Review: I have read every book of the Left Behind series. The Mark was disappointing to say the least. All of the other books in the series were packed with action until now. You can read the first chapter of The Mark to find out what happened with the cliffhanger from The Indwelling. Then read the last chapter to find out what the cliffhanger is for The Desecration (due out in November). From there everything inbetween is filler. You could go to your local library to read that much in a half hour. The Indwelling and The Mark have been straying from the previous writing style. All of the books before The Indwelling were stand alone books. The Mark is definately the start of a series with cliffhangers at the beginning and the end. This reminds me of the soaps. I think that LaHaye and Jenkins should stick with one quality book a year. One you don't want to put down because so much is happening. Go back to what made the Left Behind series so popular and has brought so many people to Christian writing. It would be a shame if The Desecration turned out to be another disappointment.
Rating: Summary: So far, very good! Review: This one is my favorite to date, with Apollyon a close second. I don't believe that the series is running out of steam - it's building up a good rolling boil.
Rating: Summary: Just Can't Wait for #9 Review: I never thought I'd be reading Christian fiction, but here I am and I am just SO looking forward to #9! I agree with others the writing is a bit amateurish, but so what?? The whole series is exciting and thought-provoking. Hurry up with that next book!
Rating: Summary: I have enjoyed this series Review: I enjoyed this series of books. This was my first dable into Christian fiction and, I must say, the series is exciting. Yes, the characters can get on your nerves, especially when they do stupid stuff (especially Hattie and that jewish doctor), but the book is exciting. I don't like it when they do long rehashes about previous books in the series, but I guess it helps if you haven't read the other books. I do hope that they reduce that in the future. Other reviewers have complained terribly about the book, but it is just fiction. You can't take it word-for-word or have the expectation that it will change someone's life (which these books could), it is only fiction. Not every fictional book will do that. I don't know how related to scripture it is because I don't have the book in one hand and my bible in the other hand trying to compare the two. I just know, that it was entertaining and I will check #9 out at the library when it comes just like I did with the rest of them. Oh - stop telling the story, that ruins everything.
Rating: Summary: Well worth reading for all christians!!!! Review: It is truth that these series of books are not an exact replication of Revelations, but you have to admit that they touch close to the source. These books allow the readers to envision what the end times will be like. If you truly have read and study Revelations, you can see that the authors are trying to give a more understandable view to what Revelations is about. We are studying Revelations at my Bible study group at work. I find that these book have assisted me in understanding the "end times". The time lines are not correct; but they are not a non-fiction book. I recommend that christians read the entire series. I have co-workers who are not christians yet but may change their beliefs after reading these books. For now they ask me questions concerning GOD and Revelations. I look forward to the next book and all that follow.
Rating: Summary: Could it be More Exciting?!?! Review: He has risen...err well Nicolae has and he is in a rage. At GC headquarters things are changing. As many staff are found dead and many no longer trusted Nicolae appoints new officials and starts the beginning of his center for world domination. David loses a very close friend and suffers his own losses as well as gaining a new apprentice who is not only smarter than him but a believer as well. AS Buck and Chloe not only face the trials and tribulations of bringing a child up in the world today, Chloe has an online magazine going and buck is constantly running to the aid of its needing members. Tsion Ben Judah is still leading Jews to God while Rayford, still grievin the loss of his wife, helps lead Hattie into a new lifestyle. But even with all the positive things these characters are doing they cannot stop teh inherant evil. Nicolae has decided its time to administer the Mark o the beast, which will be used for all buying and selling of goods or food. They order loyalty enforcers- otherwise known as guilitines- back to punish those who refuse the Mark. Bringing back the same terror brought about in the 1800's. AS the mark technology is finished Nicolae looks to none other than to the jails to enforce this curse and many arent taking it lightly. As the Tribulaiton Force runs mission after mission to save these poor members most of their attempts are futile and they are exhausted and weary. With emotions running high, a mad power-crazed man in charge and a group of strong willed Christ fighters the Book is captivating and never has a dull moment. Though this book does not live up to the excellence of the first couple it does not dissapoint the reader. It is breath-taking and heart stopping the whole way through. You wont want to miss this one!
Rating: Summary: Good Book Review: The Mark The Mark, by Jerry B. Jenkins, is the eighth book in the "Left Behind Series." This is the most popular Christian series ever. It has sold millions of copies worldwide. In this series there are three main characters; Buck, Chloe, and Ray. Buck is the most popular reporter in New York. He used to work for Global but was fired for not interviewing Nicolae Carpathia. Chloe is the daughter of Ray but also the wife of Buck. She met Buck when he was on his way to Chicago. Ray is a pilot for a commercial airlines. These three start what is called a Tribulation Force. The Force is committed to spreading the word of God everywhere they can. The bad guy of the series is a man named Nicolae Carpathia. He starts out as a bright young politician from a little country near Isreal. After the world learns of him he is invited to speak at a United Nations meeting. He speaks with such charisma and motivation that one of the Nations members steps down to give Nicolae his spot. Nicolae soon takes the world by storm. Gathering up everybody as his followers. What everybody but the Trib Force doesn't realize is that Nicolae is the anti Christ. He is now becoming the ruler of the world and is turning it upside down This book starts when Nicolae rises from the dead and is indwelt by satan himself. He is saying that he is god and everybody needs to worship him as such. The Trib Force must act fast to help the world realize this man for what he really is. The Force has recruited a bible scholar name Tsion. Tsion is a wanted man all over the world for globally broadcasting his message that Jesus is messiah. He had to flee to the protection of the Force's safe house in Chicago. Nicolae is now trying to get people to show their loyalty by applying a "mark." This is an action foretold in the Bible. This mark will be applied to everybody. Those who refuse will be beheaded. The Force will not take the mark of Satan no matter what. They are ready to die for God. This mark allows people to buy and sell. If the Force doesn't take it and gets away with it they will not be able to buy or sell. Chloe has already thought of this, she has already organized an underground market for all Christians. None of the Trib Force has had to go to a "marking center." The book ends on that note. I really enjoyed this book and the rest of the books in this series. They illustrate a very vivid picture for anybody who believes in the Bible. I am not a reader at all but I read all of these books in about a month. You can easily get lost in the treacherous adventures these people go though. For all of you who haven't read any of these books has no clue of what I am talking about. If you haven't read these I urge you to start as soon as possible. For anybody who has started this series I hope you will continue on and read all of them. This is a great book and series and anybody can enjoy it.
