Summary: El Coronel No Tiene Quien Le Escriba
Review: I guess it's an ok book, but once you read it, you realize that it doesn't really have an ending. You never really find out what happens to the rooster, or if the Colonel ever really did receive the letter.

Summary: The point
Review: I think the point of the book is precisely this open ending. It forces the reader to produce different conclusions, empowering him/her as a co-creator of the story. On the other hand, it shows that the characterization itself is more important in the book than the plot per se. This was a major breakthrough for García Márquez before writing "A Hundred Years of Solitude", and it is of great interest as a first step in that direction.
