Summary: A smorgasbord of literary litanies
Review: This book is a a first rate jewel - excellent clarity, brilliant sparkle owing to its multi-faceted and well cut list of writers, and most certainly worth its carat weight. From Bei Dao's descriptions of Chinese concentration camps and the necessities of smiling, Enrique Vila-Matas ironies in "To Write is to Cease to Be a Writer", to Salman Rushdie's "Declaration of Independence", this literary Journal of the International Parliament of Writers is nothing but stellar.

After being intoxicated by each individual sparkle of each writer my only complaint would be of a greedy nature - more writers, more pages, more words, more independence. But that petulant whine of mine has been silenced too - AUTODAFE is a biannual journal, with the second one on its way already!
