Rating: 2 stars
Summary: No chemistry
Review: I tried, but I just didn't feel the chemistry between Molly and Kevin. I felt more chemistry and understanding between Kevin's mom and the painter than Molly and Kevin. Molly came off as really childish and Kevin's character was underdeveloped. Funny read, but fell flat...

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A heartfelt romance
Review: Normally, novels that are simply classified as "romances" put me off. I bought the book originally, because I thought the cover was pretty and it was in a bargain bin. However, I really enjoyed it!
Molly has the reputation of leaping into "little acts of rebellion" when her life gets too predictable. However, this time she has leapt into bed with the star quarterback of her sister's football team, the Chicago Stars. Kevin has been a secret crush for years even though he possesses every quality Molly despises in men. They are thrown together under very unexpected circumstances and slowly begin to learn that first impressions aren't always correct.
I was really enthralled with this story. I happened to like the interjections of Daphne and Benny, characters from Molly's series of children's books. They were charming! I do agree that the love story was tied up a little too easily at the end. However, Susan Elizabeth Phillips is a good storyteller. Her writing is casual and easy to read. There were many interesting characters that kept the book moving along. This is my first SEP book and I think it's safe to say that it won't be the last!

Summary: One of my favorites
Review: This Heart of Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips is one of my favorite books. It is the first novel by SEP that I've read, but I'm sure to be a faithful reader now. As a college student, I specifically chose it for some light summer reading but ended up not being able to put it down. I honestly finished it in one day and was sad to see I was on the last page! I wanted it to go on. Kevin and Molly were likeable characters, and I easily fell in love with them and their story. Hopefully SEP will continue with these great characters in her future work. This book is for anyone who loves romance without all the fabio/bodice ripping extras. SEP combines a lovestory and humor with realism and skill. I often found myself laughing out loud! I definately would recommend this book and am looking forward to reading another one of SEP's books asap!
