Rating: Summary: Fantastic Debut! Review: I usually try not to compare one writer to another one in my reviews but I'll break that rule in this review. To me, this is the book that Eric Jerome Dickey wished he'd written when he wrote Liar's Game! Good Peoples was good, fun reading from the first page until the last. I never felt that the story went too "over-the-top" nor did I ever feel that there was just drama thrown in for drama's sake. Myles Moore and Marisa Marrero felt like two very real and very believable people and I loved how the roles were reversed with Myles being the "I want to get married and have children" person and Marisa was the "I can't say I love you" person. This book felt real to me from the beginning and I loved Marcus Major's writing style and his sense of humor. I haven't laughed this much reading a book since I read Cheaters (by Eric Jerome Dickey) over a year ago and I actually thought that this book was funnier which, for me, is saying a lot! Marcus Major has moved into my "will buy anything he writes" list and I am definitely looking forward to reading his latest book, 4 Guys and Trouble.
Rating: Summary: An Impressive Debut Review: Myles Moore doesn't have what his brother has when it comes to gaining females but with the help of his brother's wife he gains the attention of a black Latiana women who brings a different type of force to his life. Marisa Marreno is a sucessful lawyer who decides to try her luck at talk-show-host. The two characters bring things into each other lives that wouldn't allow them to hold back their hearts but when things come crashing down what is one to do but go after their heart. A lesson of love and politics are taught in this book.
Rating: Summary: Great Read! Review: The best read I have had in a very long time. Once I got started, I could not stop. Finally, a story that I can relate with. Plus, strong, AND sucessful characters also. So much African American fiction nowadays has "doggish" male characters, and "gold-digging females. Yes, it was your typical love found, love lost story. But Marcus Major added depth, dimension, and flavor to the story and characters. It was nice to read about a couple confused about love issues. But get this, with all the confusion between Myles, and Marrisa, they handled it in a mature fashion. This alone is different from the norm. Shows you how Marcus Major held true to the story, and to himself. If you read this, you can't help but pick up on this. GREAT main, and supporting characters. REAL feelings that are found in any REAL relationship. Overall, just a TRUE romance. A breath of fresh air. Recommend to anyone. Can't wait for Marcus Major's second effort.
