Rating: Summary: A Tribute to the Common Man Review: In taking the reader back to the setting of urban, industrial America of the 1950s, Mr. Petrakis once again shows his uncanny ability to analyze (as well as celebrate) the complex world of the 'common' man. Love, hate, anger and forgiveness, passion and spirituality, tragedy and comedy...they are all there in Twilight of the Ice. And lest one fall into the trap of nostalgically reminiscing about the 'good old days', the reader should be reminded that Petrakis deals with human themes which are impervious to the vagaries of time. That's what so good about this wonderful story; it is most contemporary. Even in this so-called postmodern era, it is indeed reassuring to read an author whose powerful yet graceful use of the written word still exemplifies the best of Modern American Literature.
