Fortunately, kindly Louise is there to offer her a place to stay. Joanna quickly learns that she has been set up, and the Walkers are only too glad to teach her the joys of a good spanking. As she leaves, she is handed a business card with an address that will help her take the next step. Is every one of Joanna's moves after that are orchestrated? Is every one she meets a member of the Continuum? Is every encounter that takes her deeper into submission and punishment a part of an elaborate set-up? And who is behind it all? Who is her mysterious "Master"? Major Walker? Her boss, Halloran? Denis Davidson, the odd American? Kevin Steele, her co-worker and adventurous lover? Cynthia, who teaches her the joys of loving a woman? You'll have to read to find out.The characters are not deep, and the author has an annoying habit of fading to black during the sex scenes, but overall this is a great book. The plot stays on base, and takes the reader through a fascinating voyage of discovery, and, with some introspection and feeling, into "the lifestyle" of BDSM. It gives the reader a deeper understanding of the emotions and sexual feelings involved in pain and pleasure.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Really wooden, no heat at all Review: Apart from the [physical] scenes with Kevin, the rest of this is just one big spanking fantasy with little heat and terribly unsexy characters. Tedious!! I never like the heroine at all, and kept waiting to be surprised, find something even mildly kinky to pique my interest. ...

Based on her dedidcation to her company, they send her to resort where there is no record of her reservation or her company making one ... how convenient for the next stage of the book to take shape, where the Walkers come in and teach her a whole new sexual aspect ... while Joanne is being "taught", she begins to wonder who is behind all of mishaps. As she determines to figure this out, events take place that keep continuing Joanna's exploration into a different world of sex which ends up in a most delectable satisifaction for herself and the reader of this book!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Another hot novel from Portia Da Costa! Review: Joanna hadn't anticipated the strange occurrences that arise after she accepts a work sabbatical. No sooner does she take the work break than she is introduced to the dark and lurid world of domination and submission that centers on pleasurable spankings. Joanna finds herself in a continuum of surreal experiences as she, like an erotic Alice in Wonderland, tries to uncover the mastermind of the disarming, albeit smoldering pleasures... I like the way the author illustrates this unique brand of BDSM. The novel is a dark and erotic delight. I loved the scenes centered on Kevin and Joanna, but the whole exploit with the transvestite Denis Davidson left me cold. The aforementioned scene was the least favorite parts of the novel. This is another great offering from Portia Da Costa. It isn't in the same realm as The Tutor, but it's a great erotic novel nevertheless. Black Lace has satisfied me (so to speak) once again with this great book. Highly recommended...
