Rating: Summary: Waking Walt Review: "Do you believe in the rebirth of Legends? It'll be hard not to after reading "Waking Walt." Author, Larry Pontius has brilliantly taken on one of America's most enduring, famous urban Legends and masterfully ignited the imaginative What If? feel to this fast paced thriller. What If, Walt Disney was never cremated as the official story goes? What If, The great creative genius Walt has been in cryonic suspension, waiting for a cure for lung cancer, so he can be cured and return to his empire. What If, This truly great American Icon, purveyor of dreams, a man who proved that "If you can dream something you can do it," did come back today... especially during this time of crisis in the leadership of his company. This is exactly what Author Larry Pontius weaves to life-and then some! His cleverness and wit captivates you in this engaging thriller. This is one of the most imaginative and thought provoking books that I've read in a long time. It'll make you wonder, knowing Larry Pontius was once a Marketing Executive for Disneyland and Walt Disney, if this isn't a legend after all. What If, Larry knows something we don't... You'll love "Waking Walt." I strongly recommend you buy this book, sit back and prepare to be entertained!" Best Regards, Soliza "The Tales of the Dream Keepers"

Rating: Summary: A mystery with a fun twist Review: A great read! I loved the characters and the plot, very detailed and really well written. Reading fiction about a real person we have all heard of makes for a very interesting story. Recommend to anybody, it has wide appeal.
Rating: Summary: Pure Genius Review: Disney's most famous urban legend comes to life in the novel, "Waking Walt". The book takes the "what if" approach about Walt Disney's death and puts and exciting spin on it. What would Walt think about the state of the Disney Company? What would other companies do if Walt suddenly appeared on the radar today? What is most interesting is that with all of the 2004 events, it makes this book seem more fact than fiction. All I can say is, "Where is Walt when we need him?" This novel is a MUST for any casual or avid Disney fan.

Rating: Summary: Intriguing idea, inspiring man, inadequate writing... Review: I love the idea behind this book. The idea that one of the 20th century's greatest men could be "reanimated" is fascinating. And I feel Pontius captured the true personality of Walt. The old men were believable, unusual characters. And, all the twist and turns are so wild that they're actually believable. You know real life is better than fiction. But, I feel the book was poorly written with spelling and gramatical errors here, there and everywhere. Even still, it's a great story with an ending I didn't quite see. The book captivated my mind and I found myself spending every spare moment thinking about the story.
Rating: Summary: A Great Adventure Review: Larry Pontius has written a strong entertaining novel for a first effort. I felt that he had written a story inspired by the legend of King Arthur, a great leader of men who it was written that though he had died, would come back when his country really needed him. Walt Disney was among many things a man who created and led a corporation which became a national icon. It gave life to the idea that "If you can dream something, you can do it." He was also a human being like the rest of us and not always the stuff heros are made of in legend. The idea that Walt could and would inspire a group to keep his secret and revive him when needed is the beginning of a fascinating tale that takes us through looking at the world through the eyes of a man long out of it. However, it does this without getting bogged down in too many details. It also discusses other issues such as the legal ramifications of being revived, these are the kind of questions I can't stop myself from asking when I read something like this. I was delighted that he dealt with some of these issues. There were some weaknesses, characters placed in the plotline for unclear reasons and once Walt is revived, he becomes the central character and the others kind of fade into the background. I would have liked to see the story trimmed or tightened in one or two areas, but all in all I would not have missed reading this for the world. You know how it is when you discover the work of someone you just know is going to be really good? How satisfied you are to read the work? How you anticipate more in different directions from this author? That is the way I feel about Mr. Pontius and his book. It is richly detailed with lots of little stories about Mr. Disneys career. It also has a mystery element to it. We really don't know what will happen until it does. I do feel though that it is more a work of speculative fiction than a mystery. There is a WHAT IF? feel to the story. I also really felt like I got to know Mr. Disney a little better through this story. It would be a great read for the summer.
Rating: Summary: Waking Walt Wakes Up Review: Larry's portrayal of Walt Disney is brilliant. The characters are fun and I got really quite carried away with some of their antics. Larry writes with feeling and warmth and this is generated throughout this marvellous book. ps: I think Larry knows something we don't...waiting for the next one!!!!
Rating: Summary: Postive review from Blether Review: Picture this. Walt Disney didn't die and his ashes weren't placed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park back in 1966. He was frozen and some of his buddies had orders to bring him back when a cure for his cancer was found. Well, a new medicine by a Dr. Rebecca Ling in Arizona was said to have such a wonder drug. Disney's Cronies decided it is time to resurrect Walt. Walt is especially needed now as someone has planned to take over the Disney Empire, someone unscrupulous. The only person capable of saving the day is Walt Disney.
I found WAKING WALT to be a page-turner from the opening to the end. The book has a large list of quirky and interesting characters, sort of a Grumpy Old Men and more. The reader learns much of Walt Disney and of the Disney Company. Maybe Mr. Disney wasn't always the genial man we saw on television; perhaps he had his prejudices, but according to this story he was interesting, and certainly he was a genius, knowing what people wanted in the way of entertainment in the years before 1966. Do his cronies succeed? Does Walt save the day? You'll have to read the book. I don't want to spoil this humorous and well-told tale for you. Suffice it to say, WAKING WALT has mystery, bad guys, good guys, a reluctant flawed hero, and a bit of sci-hi. But isn't some of yesterday's science-fiction today's reality? I heartily recommend WAKING WALT.

Rating: Summary: Waking Walt: an excellent adventure with Walt Disney Review: This book grabs you from the minute you start reading. Mystery from the first page. Even if your not a huge Walt Disney fan, this will have you start asking questions and researching urban legends.
The authors writing style is in-depth and thought provoking, yet fun at the same time. There is a great depth to the characters and concern for them starts to build as the story continues. There are twists and turns that you dont see coming. I had a hard time putting it down; I read until 4 in the morning just to see what was coming next.
I would suggest buying this, its worth reading again and again.
