Review: I am a true admirer of Jacques Mayol, but this book is not as good as expected.

I am not sure what was the real participation of J. Mayol, may be this work is mainly due his brother Pierre.

The tale development is slow and it has a sudden end which makes little sense...

If you are a fan of Mayol, may be this book has a value as itself, ....

Summary: Very interesting and exciting story
Review: I received the book as a gift from my friend Carla Sherman, who happens to be the translator. I was somewhat familiar with the universe of Jacques Mayol through the film The Deep and the book Homo Delphinus (beautiful book!).
I was impressed by the story. It is a very exciting story, if you like adventure and mystery. The mystery surrounding the quest for the treasure of the Santa Isabella is really exciting. The treasure hunting part is awesome!
I think what I liked most in the book were its mystical and esoteric aspects. The whole issue of the existence and location of Atlantis is fascinating. Jacques & Pierre Mayol really bring some important facts into light in this book.
I also found that the English text sounds really beautiful and I could not really feel that it was a translation from French. It feels like an original text in English.
My friend Carla Sherman worked directly with Jacques Mayol on this translation, and then, after he died, with his brother Pierre. This was a book that was made with a lot of love and care. It is really evident.
I did notice though that there were a few minor spelling problems here and there, and my guess is that they must have occurred during the typesetting. As a professional typesetter, I know these things can happen, especially if the typesetter does not speak the language. Hopefully these minor problems will be fixed in the second printing of the book.
I totally recommend this beautiful book. A great Christmas gift!
