Summary: An enjoyable read
Review: "Good Peoples" by Marcus Majors is an alright book. It's the story of a man who's looking for a perfect woman. The main character Myles has sworn off dating until he find's the perfect woman. He meets Marissa who he feels is perfect but in reality she is only human. Overall I like the book but there were a couple of things that I wished Mr. Majors had gone more in detail about. First it was implied that Marissa was "damaged goods", but the author never told us what made her damaged. Majors does discuss Marissa'a childhood, but what happenend to her in college. I wished that the author would have devolped the character of Myles' brother Amir more. I felt the book was at his best when Amir was around. I understand that this was Major's first book and it is a good book for a first time author. But Major's does a much better job in his second book "Four Guys and Trouble" So read "Good Peoples" first then run and get his second book.

Summary: wonderful book! great read
Review: I can't remember the last time I read a book so fast. After reading MM's short story on "got to be real" I ran to the store to get this one. I stayed up to 3 am to finish it. What a truly enjoyable read. At times I really wanted to slap Myles upside the head, but I could see where the brother was coming from.. hell any man who waits til his woman comes home just to massage her feet is ok in my book. I can't say enough about the characters in this book, they were so vibrant, so alive!. I know we all know an"AMIR" "MYLES". Thank you for such a great read!! I just started 4 guys and trouble and I know that I will enjoy that one as well. Keep them coming Marcus.

** ONE NOTE: to truly enjoy good peoples, read "got to be real first**

Summary: Almost very good
Review: I definately enjoyed reading this book - i really like how the 1st paragraph began...once u read that you're hooked till the last few pages.
The story is very intresting Its about this sweet guy - (who i think is just a fool for love) that falls in love with a woman he cant have as she dosent love him back, but d fool keeps punishing himself and takes it all in until he finally bursts into tears when she told him how she really felt.

I didnt enjoy reading from marisa's point of view because i find her very very annoying, too stuck-up, too proud and even more annoying...i'll neva become like that no matter how much money i make...plus she dosent have a good enough escuse for her foolishness.

To really be honest i dont like the two main characters in this book - they dont deserve each other n dont want the same thing so it would never work anyway. I enjoyed reading about Amir, Carlos and Cassandra.

Plus i hope that men like Myles dont exist because he'll give giving his heart to women that wont give theirs because we dont want whats good for us!!
Plus people like Marisa can go kill themselves...i dont want them breaking my brother's heart. plus she's d type that will end up in a luxurious mansion with millions in d bank and her ugly cat at 60yrs old..STILL SINGLE...STILL SEARCHING...N WILL NEVER FIND!!

One thing that will keep you going is the writer's flow and d snappy witty dialogue he sure knows how to do that.

Finally, i'll say Good Job but the end could be better...Myles should have made Marisa work hard to get him back.

Summary: Potential, but NO excitement...too predictible...
Review: I felt like this book was too slow to develop. After reading so many good review about this book, I told my boyfriend that it would be a good birthday gift for me. Well, that was not the case. I had to make myself finish it, (especially since it was a gift). I felt as though the character Myles was too "soft" and not very realistic. Even though, I admired his willingness to wait for the right woman, I think he went overboard when he found her. It was to the point where I couldn't imagine Marissa not walking all over a man like this. Personally, I like to read about strong men, ones with backbones and that are not afraid to take control of their lives and the relationship.

Though the book was slow, I did enjoy one of the characters, Amir. I loved his humor and wisdom. Mr. Major should develop more of that character in one of his next novels.

The book has potential, but no excitement what so ever!! The ending was very predictible and watered down. I will give this author another chance, and read another novel...I hope he redeems himself.

Summary: Great characters, great book
Review: I found this book surprisingly enjoyable. The title threw me off at first glance, but the book is so wonderful and true in describing these "good people." The characters and the dialogue was very believable and real, and the writing was superb.

I think I enjoyed it mostly because of the insight into the mind of a caring loving man that wore his heart on his sleeve. Moreover, Major did a great job in describing the various issues and problems with career and love that women, especially minority women encounter. I think he could have delved into the Black-Hispanic issues more, but that could have changed the intent of the book.

These characters are intelligent, successful, and well-rounded. I enjoyed the book immensely.

Summary: Goody, Good, Good!
Review: I'm glad I decided to pick up this book. It was so good and there was never a dull moment throughout the story. Marisa was a little hard on Myles at times, but he took like a man. Great book and I highly recommend book lovers to read it, if you haven't! I hated for it to come to end.

Summary: Marcus Major does pretty good with his first novel
Review: Marcus Major tells a story of a romance between a man and a woman from the man's point of view mostly. This novel is a very pleasent read that captured my heart. Marissa was a very hurt soul who had trouble expressing her feelings to Myles. But the end proves well for the couple.

Other things that drew my attention were the explaination of black people of Spanish decent. Major explains this well through Myles. a lot of people still don't understand that there are black people in many different countries. We all originated from the same place but just got thrown around to all kinds of places.

I plan to read the sequal to this novel next. I want to see how Myles and Marissa are doing. This couple is very interesting to read. The image is one of true love that is explained very well.

Summary: Cute
Review: Mr. Majors has a new fan, the main character was very loveable you couldn't help but fall for him too. Too bad men aren't this sweet in real life. Excellent book, look forward to reading his other work.

Summary: An Impressive Debut
Review: Myles Moore doesn't have what his brother has when it comes to gaining females but with the help of his brother's wife he gains the attention of a black Latiana women who brings a different type of force to his life. Marisa Marreno is a sucessful lawyer who decides to try her luck at talk-show-host.

The two characters bring things into each other lives that wouldn't allow them to hold back their hearts but when things come crashing down what is one to do but go after their heart.

A lesson of love and politics are taught in this book.

Summary: A Pleasant Read
Review: This debut by author Marcus Major was a pleasant read. It is the typical "relationship rollercoaster" book, but it has some good qualities. The author's dialect was very humorous and his choice of words was very unnecessary at times. I have read plenty of books, but I often found myself pulling out the dictionary on some of the words the author threw out there. I also must say that I feel like I have had a lesson on Spanish after reading this book. Also, I found the profanity to take away from the story, rather than add to it. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the story he had to tell.
Myles is a good man who carries his heart on his shoulders, and is tired of what the dating scene has to offer, until Marisa Marrero comes along. Marisa is a female that is used to getting the attention of males, and when she meets Myles, he falls head over heels for her. However, you know Marisa will not let things go too easy for Myles, because she takes him on an emotional rollercoaster, before finally deciding if she would like him to stay on for the ride.
Another character in the book worth mentioning includes Myles' all too funny younger brother Amir. His witty remarks will keep you laughing, if nothing else. Although I found this book to be slow in the areas were Myles is constantly "sweating" Marissa, it tended to make up for that in other areas.
Although this may not be the best book by Marcus Major, I'm sure his writing will get better with time, and I am looking forward to reading more of his novels.
