Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A must for your library Review: Butterfly is the best book I have ever read in my life. It is a definite keeper. I've purchased nearly 5 copies of this book to give as gifts. Kathryn Harvey is a literary genius. I actually applauded after reading the last page. This book has so many twists and turns, but is written in a way that keeps you right there hanging on. Every woman I know who has read this book, wants membership to the club. When I suggest Butterfly to them, I sit back and await the "Oh My Gosh" phone call that is expected. Both this and the sequel 'Star' are inspirational pieces of literature. I am torn with wanting to see this as a movie or just keeping it as the written masterpiece that it is.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Still on my Favorites List! Review: Butterfly was recommended by a friend like so many others that have read it. This was one of the best suggestions a friend could have offered to me. This book has a very interesting story about Beverly Highland who runs away from an abusive home at 14 only to be taken in by a man who uses her just as much by getting her into prostution. Beverly is a very well fleshed out character and she jumps off the page. She loses that piece of childhood that happens when a child suffers at the hands of another. Then when she begins to trust the newest man in her life Danny Mackay he turns her into a prostitute and also makes her have an abortion. What else can a girl do but decide to plot her revenge against the man who wronged her. Beverly changes her life by completely making herself over and building a successful very exclusive Brothel for women's needs of her own. She decides it will be the best and her clients the highest powerful connections and beauty. At Butterfly you must be hand picked. You have to know a member to become a member. At Butterfly a woman can fullfill all her fantasies. Among the men of Butterfly are a masked burglar, a Confederate soldier, a Versailles courtier, a cowboy all of which are there to make your every dream come true. Within Beverly's story is the story of Lawyer Jessica Franklin, Dr. Linda Markus and Trudie a builder. They each come to Butterfly to fullfill their fantasy or to step out of their perfect/imperfect lives. What Kathryn Harvey does with this story is draw you into each of the women in such an intricate web that you sit eagerly awaiting each new page. There is an erotic aspect that you expect from a story with a Brothel involved, but it's not the true nature of the story. The story is about women and their experiences and how lives are effected by things that happen to them. Ms. Harvey is very talented. I found myself flushed at times from the steam of this book and also had myself emotionally involved with the story even coming to tears at certain times. This is what I look for in a story something that keeps me reading even after I know I should be in bed or doing something else. I sat in my easy club chair on a cold evening and read this book through in one sitting. And this isn't a small book. After that I read it again. Luckily I found out about this book after it had been on the market for several years. Because there is a sequel Stars and you must read that after checking out this book. All I have to say is even now this book pulls at me. It's a perfect book to stay in and read until you finish. Great story with heat to it. The bedroom door doesn't close on this one but you probably knew that when I mentioned Brothel:) If I could give this more than 5 stars I would!

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This is my all-time favorite book. Review: I have read this book so many times, I actually had to go out and buy a new one, because the first one I had fell apart! No kidding! I love it, and I'll probably read it a hundred more times. It gives the feeling of power to all women, not just the main character. It shows what true friendships are all about and keeping true to yourself. Whenever I'm down, I just pick it up and read it. I'm 22, and I only hope that someday I could make as much of my life as the main character did with hers. It's and inspiration. I hope Kathryn wrote more novels. And if you loved this book, "Stars" is a definite, you have to read what happens!!! It's a thrilling continuation of Butterfly.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This one deserves to be a movie!!! Review: I read this book (the first time) when I was 16 and have loved it ever since. I have reread it I can't remember how many times. I've recommended, loaned, and even re-purchased Butterfly several times over. Everyone that I know that's read it loves it. It even hooked some of my male friends and relatives. This book has all the makings of what would be a FABULOUS movie! If they could manage to get the right, meaning belivable cast, it would surpass "9 1/2 Weeks" and "Basic Instinct" combined. Hopefully one day some producer or director or studio somebody will stumble or completely fall for this and let it come to 'real' life. If someone ever does, I'll not only pay the outrageous price at the box office, I'll get the dvd, video, pay-per-view, and see it played countless times on HBO, Showtime, and or Cinamax!!! If you haven't read it do so, NOW! And while your at it, pick up its sister book "Stars". Either way, you'll never put them down, and you'll never think about fiction the same way again!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: FANTASTIC!! Review: I read this book in three days. It was a loaner from a friend. Now I MUST read STARS!!! I can't wait to find out what happens next!! Butterfly is a definite must-read for all book lovers!!

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: An Absolute Collection to have Review: I was first introduced to "Butterfly" by a second-hand bookstore owner. I never returned the book, and after lending the book to 3 friends, who all never return the book to me, I now put my 4th copy in a drawer instead of displaying it with the rest of my books. It's a really mesmerizing!
