Rating: Summary: what editor in their right mind thought this was a good idea Review: This is absolutely the worst book I have ever read. The writing is like that of a two year old, the character's motivations as well. Nothing rings true, not even the anger or desire for revenge. It devalues the experience of every single woman who has ever been raped, and also every woman who has lost a child to a hit and run driver. This isn't entertainment on any level, and there is certainly nothing morally uplifting about this overwrought tripe.
The woman in question who is raped is not only raped, she is raped and sodomized in front of her husband who is handciapped and can't help her. Talk about laying on the sensationalism with a trowel.
I am appalled that this book was published, even more shocked to see that it is part of a series-apparently a seven book series. This book was brief enough, printed in large print, I doubt it was even 50,00 words, but however many it was, it was way too many for me. It was predictable, overwrought, and just shows that publishers will do anything for sensationalism, and for new 'product', a book with a prominent writers name on it. And this author has the gall to think she has invented a new genre, 'the man in peril'.I think everyone offended by this book should complain to the publisher, and perhaps the rest of these extremely offensive series will be confined to the trash heap.
Spoiler:
How they can surgically castrate the three men, leave their testicles in plastic bags, and then find it FUNNY when the men turn up at a doctor's office (not the hospital?) to ask to have them put back, is just too sick for words. And the doctor's secretary selling the story to the tabloids for $50000 is even more sick. Avoid this loser of a series if you have any taste or sense.
Rating: Summary: Horrible subject, CREEPY! 0 stars Review: This was a real dissapointment of a book, a total waste of money.
If you want to read a depressing, miserable tale of revenge, get this book. Way too violent for my taste. Who in their right mind would "cut off someone's balls and mail them in a ziploc bag"? GET SOME THERAPY! The worst though was the pathetic style of writing; the stilted, stiff, unbelievable dialogue. Everyone sounds like they are speaking English as a second language.
A book like this just puts more ugliness out there in the world, who needs it?
We can just read the newspaper to read of misery.
Rating: Summary: Revenge - not for the faint hearted Review: Well I certainly did not expect this from Fern Michaels. I don't normally read her but I was desperate for some reading material so I thought the title was interesting and guess I didn't read enough of the blurb to get what this book was about.
I know there are men who are such total bad guys that they deserve some really nasty punishment. But sorry guess I am way too squeamish for this type of book.
I am not sure I want to read the other books in this series. If the method used in this is a sign, I shudder to think what might be the next method of payback.
I read to be entertained and reading about something like this does not entertain me, not one bit.
I can't believe so many women read this and actually said hoorah. Well violence only begets more violence... I sure don't want to read a book about what a man might do to a woman who did him wrong... OH! we already have books like that .. Serial killers out there stalking women who represented their abusive mother and torture and kill in revenge for the pain they suffered.
Well at least these gals aren't crazy or demented and they don't kill their targets so that is okay isn't?
Think I will pass on the next books in this series
Rating: Summary: Different, But I enjoyed it alot!! Review: Yes! This book is definetly different from the books of Fern Michaels I have read. But at the same time the plot was catching and full of suspense wandering if they are going to get caught. Yes it is a little graphic and some may say that revenge is just continuing violence but some people deal with things the way they have to deal with them. If you dont like the storyline then just dont read it. I am definetly going to read the next one that is coming out.
