Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Jed Davis,Girls' High School Basketball Coach Review: While this book offers a lot of information, it is destined to the same fate of many basketball books: 1) too much information without enough detail on any one system 2) complicated diagrams that have to be studied for hours in order to understand. This book is more of an encyclopedia of basketball. It covers everything. And the history of girls/womens basketball is particularly good. However, the author does not convey a personal philosophy or a personal system that she has used in basketball. It's more like " you can do it this way but you can also do it that way. " I therefore did not find the book useful in further developing my own coaching. There are a lot of details to basketball and the best books and teachings are those in which there is a detailed explanation of what, why and how. But for an overview of the different aspects of the game, the book does an admirable job. If there is one thing that is missing from this book, it is the relationship between coach and player. How does a coach motivate her players? Why is it important not to yell at them? What do you do to bond with your players and therefore enhance the spirit and motivation of the team.
