Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Incredible
Review: Bruiser is the best novel I have read in some time. One cannot put this book down, you can't possibly tear yourself away from this very real and heartbreaking journey of Bruiser and Darla. Mr Chorao has a captivating and unique style. I look forward to reading his future work.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A beautifully written page turner!
Review: I highly recommend BRUISER. I could not put it down! Chorao's writing is spare and honest. He somehow manages to make us feel like we're seeing life through the eyes of Bruiser, a nine-year old boy, while giving us very adults insights into the world and flights into revelatory territory. I found this book extremely moving, compelling and nearly pitch perfect. 5 stars from me!

Summary: savvy book, savvy narrator
Review: I read this book in one sitting! I forgot to eat, I missed a movie date. There was no way to tear myself away. It's just that good!

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: ?
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed the realism and readability of this book - I couldn't put it down. The author did a fantastic job developing Bruiser's character, and from beginning to end you have the unique experience of viewing the world through the eyes of another. The main character was hopelessly tragic, and yet sadly realistic. Having grow up in the Bronx during the same period of time, the story is all too close to the truth. Encore Mr. Chorao!

Summary: About a kid
Review: I usually avoid books where the protagonist is a kid. I don't like to read about bad things happening to kids. Since this book is told in the voice of the kid, and he never seems pathetic, it was constantly readable and interesting.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: About a kid
Review: I was a little skeptical when I started this book, but it quickly captivated me. The characters are complex, and lovable despite their flaws. Written from the perspective of a 9 year old boy, it makes you remember all the crazy things you thought at that age. The writing is clear, concise and insightful. Looking forward to the next book by this new author.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: incredibly moving and beautiful
Review: this book is an incredibly fast read...the story of bruiser is moving and beautifully written. ian chorao knows his character inside out. you feel like you're walking around as a nine year old boy, but somehow the experience is heightened -- revelatory as much as it is down to earth and precise. chorao's usage of language is spare, poetic and nearly pitch perfect. i highly reccommend this book. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN!
