Summary: Could have been five stars... and still recommended
Review: Very good novel in the line of military life description (used as a background) but not Sharpe, neither Flashman... more "Dances with Wolves" meets a "Fenwick Travers" background...

Mind, the good thing is the prose and style of the writer... could have been the history of a young lawyer or doctor or arquitect... that's the minor point. So do not expect a derring-do heroe, just a normal chap who grows up been a soldier...

As a fan of Military History the inacuracies (as the mention of wagons at the battle of the Little Big Horn!, to mention only one...) made me a little nervous at the beginning... but then the story caught on me... and quite a refreshing aproach it was.

That five star will have to wait until next novel...
