Rating: Summary: A good read for any dog lover.. Review: This is the story of an incredible dog named Damien who gets caught up in the world of animal-research, and changes a young medical student's life forever!Jessup's book perfectly captures the character of a good pitbull which made the story a nice read on a personal level, as a pitbull owner.. Any lover of bully-breeds will be able to read this story with a smile on their face! Her experience with the breed shines through! The story it self was perfectly readable, though often frustrating. Many times I just wanted to give the main-character a good shake! I won't give anything away, but at the climax of the story, I just had to ask myself how things had gotten so carried away.. I was pleasantly surprised, also, that the characters were not completely one-dimensional. They were not complex by any stretch of the imagination, but occasionally their actions and thoughts surprised me! And I will confess- the ending really moved me.. Bottom line? If you've ever loved a dog, read this story.. And if you can, have that dog close on hand for the last couple of pages!
Rating: Summary: redundant and unrealistic, but she means well... Review: This overly dramatized book could have been more interesting as an article. Jessop repeats herself to fill pages rather than to address important issues. I bought this book to learn more about the pit bull, but the only thing I learned is that Jessop's version reality is distorted. Animal rights groups risking their own safety to rescue a pit bull?? The ending is even more far-fetched than the plot. One redeeming factor of this trite story is Jessop's obvious disdain for PETA.
Rating: Summary: Gripping story line Review: What a touching and gripping story. Beautifully written, it will be enjoyed by all animal lovers. Sincere and heartwarming throughout, but will bring tears to your eyes and put a great big lump in your throat. Arlene Millman...
