Rating: Summary: Not bad at all. Great EXTENDED reading. Review: I didn't get into Fly Girl that much. I did pick up on Omar Tyree's writing style. He is a bit wordy and very discriptive. Sometimes it seems like a waste of paper...but this novel was pretty good. It was a thick and wordy book, but once you get to the end, you will appreciate it. Omar is very descriptive when it come to sights, sounds, and feelings, and it is very easy to get into the book and put yourself right in scenario. Booby Dallas is a funny man who does make the wrong choices even though they point him to the right choices. A very good book, but if I were Omar's editor, there were a couple chapter that weren't necessary and would've made the book a pleasent, intermediate reading book. How long did it take me to read? 4 weeks. Way to long...but the ending kind of made up for that. OMAR, YOU SHOULD REALLY WRITE A FOLLOW UP OR SOMETHING TO THIS BOOK. BOBBY DALLAS' LIFE IS ONLY BEGINNING.

Rating: Summary: A Confused Disc Jockey Review: Oh my what a mess! Here we meet Bobby Dallas, an unassertive student at Howard University who starts "sleeping" with a girl who he's obviously afraid of! He moves to New York with Pearl gets a job blah...blah...blah... she leaves he leaves and he goes on and on like this the entire book. In college Bobby and his best friend Faye had a liking for one another okay why they didn't get it on? At the end of the book they finally get together! The details about working in the radio industry was really interesting and I guess Omar was trying to get across how hard it is to be a "black male" but it failed in my opinion! The character just came across as simple not as struggling to learn he didn't have the backbone he was a gentleman but at what cost? I loved Single mom but I haven't picked up anything else by Omar.
Rating: Summary: A good read Review: The "Do Right Man" by Omar Tyree was good, but move rather slow. However, I did enjoy the book thoroughly, because it dealt with some reality that other books do not address. The reality I am speaking of in which I can relate to is the main character Bobby Dallas whom is struggling with the development of his career and finances. So many authors create this perfect utopia where nobody has problems with money or their career, and their biggest problem is finding that perfect "soulmate". I was interested in how Pearl Davis would finally get what was coming to her for dumping Bobby the way she did and not really giving him a second thought. However, the author did not go into that which I wanted to know more than anything.
Rating: Summary: No man Review: the book was boring. the doright man need to get right
Rating: Summary: Did it work for u cuz at times it didn't for me Review: This book started off slow. But it had its good parts. Bobby an inspiring radio host is so confused. He has a girlfriend that he is scared of and she just does him wrong. I don't think the males would agree with the way he handled it, until the end. But the book was ok to read. I don't want to say it was bad but it was cool.
Rating: Summary: Slow But Not Bad Review: This is the second book that I read by Omar Tyree and I will say that it was better written and had a lot less cursing in it than Flyy Girl but the plot moved along very slowly. Omar told an intesting story of how Bobby Dallas climbs the ladder in the radio industry while having to "watch his back" from some of the other people in the radio business. The other sub plot involved his feelings for Faye, the lady in his life that he let get away after falling for another woman (Pearl). I found the book worth reading but parts of the book just seemed to drag on taking away from the overall enjoyment of the book.
Rating: Summary: The Radio Man Review: Though I was able to read this novel from cover to cover, I had a few problems with it. I'm still trying to figure out what made Bobby Dallas "A Do Right Man." Because he was passionate about his career in the radio biz? Jumping from one woman's bed to the next all the while trying to figure out why he can't keep one makes him 'a do right man'? Had the author spent more time developing Bobby's relationships and not so much of his career, we would have been able to see what made this man so great. The title of this book is definitely misleading and should be re-named "The Radio Man."
Rating: Summary: Too slow and boring! Thank goodness I'm finished! Review: Well, first the compliment. I really appreciated knowing some of the insecurities that men go through. That part of the book was ok. But, overall, the book moved too slow. Those of you who have not read the book, don't worry, nothing I could say will spoil the ending. At first it was ok, I figured that eventually he would get to the good parts. I kept turning the page expecting something exciting to happen. I was truly disappointed in the way in which he handled Pearl Davis. That relationship truly got on my nerves! The ending of the book was very uneventful. Also, I did not have to know, word for word, about all of the radio interviews that he conducted. That was sooo boring. And, what did taking vacations by himself have to do with anything? We didn't need a blow by blow of what he did on vacation, especially since he didn't take anyone. Needless to say, something was definitely missing. I haven't read Flyy Girl and I don't know if I feel like reading it. I'm hoping that the latest book will be a lot better. I have been keeping a journal for 15 years and I've had more twists and turns and exciting things happen than Bobby Dallas. The minute details of cigarettes and types of drinks (that he was unfamiliar with) were totally unnecessary. I am surprised that his editor or agent didn't ask him to redo some sections to add some spice to the book. I now know that I could use my journal and make the bestseller's list. Again, thanks for the insight on a good man's thoughts (though sometimes he was TOO weak, yes I said it!) but no thanks for the uneventful 10 years of his boring life!
