Summary: Tries too hard to be creepy
Review: This had the potential to be good, and I think the general story -- a fledgling pedophile has an unusual correspondence with an imprisoned child-killer -- is a strong skeleton for a book.

But I think the author went overboard with the behaviors and monologues delivered by the prisoner. It's like she either studied all about serial killers and pedophiles and made a composite of all their worst qualities (which would be highly unlikely in one person), or she didn't study enough and imagined whatever she could to fill in the spaces.

Blah.
