Review: This is a brilliant book that affected me on every level. Read this and you step on to a rollercoaster of emotions that throws up many surprises and yet is always believable. Despite some extreme violence, Smith writes with compassion but without excessive sentimentality, and the action is thrilling. Here he is in total command of his story. Yes, one of my top ten books ever.
