Rating: Summary: Another excellent read from Ms. Davidson! Review: I am big fan of MaryJanice Davidson and have wanted to read all of her novels and stories. I stumbled upon Canis Royal: Bridefight on the Ellora's Cave website. Though I don't like reading novels in e-book format, I bought and downloaded this one without hesitation. Lucky for me, this novella is only fifty-seven pages long, so I was able to print out the pages and curl up on the couch to enjoy it. This sexy, witty novella is about a female police officer who has had it with her lonesome, empty existence. Lois had an incident that left her handicapped on one knee and is now working as a desk officer, both of her parents are dead, and, to make matters worse, she is lonely, no one cares about her. So she decides to commit suicide. However, she hadn't anticipated waking up next to a gorgeous man who shape-shifts into something that resembles a puma. The gorgeous man is Prince Damon of the SandLands. SandLands is a strange, albeit beautiful world Lois hadn't known existed. Lois likes her luxurious surroundings, but is unaware of the man-slash-puma's real intentions with her...
This novella is erotic, creative and a laugh-a-minute comedy from beginning to end. As usual, Davidson's characters, especially the heroine, are extremely funny -- uttering quips at the drop of a hat. I loved Damon and Lois's erotic encounters. This novella is a great reminder of Davidson's sharp wit and great imagination. The work she did with Ellora's Cave is better than the stuff she writes for Kensington Brava by a long shot. I hope she still writes for EC. I wish this novella had been longer. I finished it in less than an hour and left me wanting so much more. Anyway, I cannot recommend Canis Royal enough!
