Review: Being from Quinnesec, MI, which is only 50 miles from Escanaba, I can totally relate. I didn't have a chance ta see da movie, but I will definitely get da movie when it comes out on DVD. Dat lady from KS doesn't know nuttin 'bout da UP. Alla' us guys up here talk like dat fer sure. She's nuttin but a dern troll, dat's what I say. I tink dis book was a really good portrayal of hunters in da UP. Pasties fer everyone! 'Cept dem darn trolls, dat is.

Review: Having just moved to Michigan from the south and not quite understanding all about the area.....this was surely an eye opener! I actually had to take a trip to the UP to "see for myself". I keep hoping it will be released on video!

Review: I don't know where the lady from Kansas got her information, but I have had a hunting camp north of Escanaba, off of Rt. 35, for the past 40 years. The real natives do talk like that. Jeff Daniels has hit the nail on the head. After seeing the play 2 years ago, it is great to read the lines that you missed with the laughter in the audience.

Review: I haven't read the book, having ordered it today, but have bought two copies of the movie. One for my wife and I, and another to give out. I may have moved here from the South, but I grew up in the MidWest and went to 'deer camp' in Pennsylvania with my Dad's family. Now that I live in MI and am married to a lifelong resident, I have to go to the UP soon. We may even retire there in a few years. This was the funniest movie we've seen in years. Hey! We bought TWO copies, AFTER seeing it in the theater! That should say it all, right there. We've never done that before, and never again, likely. A must see for all deer hunters, deer widows and Michiganders. We laughed until we cried. Our stomaches were starting to hurt.

I am from Northern Wisconsin and can see where the movie merges with reality for yuppers. I would recommend this movie to anyone that likes hunting and is perfect for a hunting camp.

Review: I thought the movie was hysterical. I insisted that my hunting, fishing husband see the movie. I am hoping that it is put out on videotape so it can be shown to his fellow hunters and fishers together.

Review: While I haven't read the book, I did see the movie in Rhinelander last spring. This show had its hilarious moments, but was one of the most bizarre movies I have ever seen. People really do talk like that in the UP and you will either love it or hate it. The characters were amazing in their portrayal of deerhunters. It is not for the squeamish of stomach, but portays a culture that does exist. Hopefully they will put the movie out on DVD or VHS.
