Summary: Thank you, Alice
Review: Alice Walker possesses a gift that she has continually shared with her readers. In both her fiction & poetry writing she weaves a web of magnificent beauty, keeping alive the hope that humanity and life is good. Her work comes from a source of profound truth deep within, awakening that part that is within each human being. When I feel disoriented or in need of solace, Alice Walker's writing sings to me as a mother to child. I feel blessed to have discovered her writing, as it has been a gift beyond all others. Her poems rise up as prayers to the Divine & I am thankful to experience this connection. So thank you, Alice, for sharing your profound gift with us all.

Review: Alice Walker seems to love the color blue. I didn't count how often, but blue is woven in and out of the poems. It is like there is a blue ribbon of healing words sent out to the reader.

The poems weave a tale of the wonder of life and send out a call for the end of war and mistreatment of each other. Alice Walker sets an example of thanking and honoring friends for being who they are.

The poems in this book dusts off the reader and sets him/her off to do the work that needs to be done.

"This is the true wine of astonishment:
We are not
Over
When we think
We are."

Summary: Excellent
Review: I just recieved this in the mail from my kind Aunt Jane. I own three other poetry books by Alice Walker, "Once", "Her Blue Body Everything We Know", and "Goodnight Willie Lee", and "Once" was always my favorite one. "Once", Alice Walker's first poetry book, and her first book at all, was my favorite because of how it displayed how wise Alice Walker was even in her youngest days. She writes about the painful experience in the decision of whether or not to go under abortion, she writes about her sight-seeing in Africa, and most-notably, she writes about suicide. But now, "Absolute Trust In the Goodness of Earth" is my favorite Alice poetry book. Now in her mid-fifties, Alice's wisdom is .... is something else! I think she's dedicated her soul so deeply to the spirits that she can't get by one paragraph without expressing her love for the spiritual motherland. And, thank God, these poems are not all DEPRESSING AS HELL! Some of them actually make you smile. If I wanted to get depressed, i'd just click on CNN.
Alice Walker creates an atmosphere in all of her novels, and somehow, she's managed to do it here, too. When reading one of her poems, i can just hear her soft, low, rolling voice reciting the words as she types them.

Summary: Poems for the Soul
Review: I saw Ms. Walker read poems from this book last night in Los Angeles. She spoke of how she thought she was done with writing and then the poetry started one day. She described the return to poetry as a "spring" beginning to flow again. Anyone involved in creative pursuits, such as writing poetry, can surely relate to the "spring" metaphor. These poems are simply beautiful and seem effortless as you read them. They seem to come from a vast, open space. Reading the poetry engages the reader in a celebration of life, the spirit, and hope for humanity. Highly recommended!

Review: LATORIAL FAISON, Poet & Author
...

Alice Walker absolutely captivated my inner spirit with this collection. I'm a twice published poet who is awesomely amazed when I can read words that excite my inner being for so many reasons. Not only does this book carry a wisdom filled title, but Walker's poetry lives up to the title. She shares with us experience and wisdom that just draws an "amen" from your spirit. Her poems tell of ordinary things and situations, but they abide in your spirit as inspiration. From 9/11 and the current war to people and relationships, Walker covers the gamut profoundly with poetic words of wisdom.

It's no secret what Alice Walker can do with words in books. Just when I thought I'd read it all by this wonderful woman, this poetry collection took me to new heights. I found myself indulging in her soulfelt musing in bed, in the bath in between times with my children and just any time I had a moment to read it. I read these poems like a novel, because in actuality, it's what they really are. Congratulations Ms. Walker. If we ever meet, I just love to hear you speak, and I'll listen . . .

If you don't have this poetry collection yet, you're already missing out on one of the best books of poetry out there. Get it! I was given a signed copy for my birthday by my girlfriends in the MD/DC area. It's the best gift they could have ever sent me. Thanks Kamili & Monique for such a beautiful and inspiring book.

Summary: Awesome, Moving Poems
Review: Thank you a thousand times, Ms. Walker, for the gift of your new poems. They literally danced off the pages and into my soul as I read them. I enjoyed the preface and especially being introduced to the shaman/priestess/healer, Maria Sabina. My favorite poem is "Thanks for the Garlic". Summary: THIS BOOK IS TRASH
Review: This book is the biggest piece of literary trash I have seen in a long time. It is a collection of peace-mongering propaganda that seems to take issue with political reality as much as the author does in her own life. The agendas in her poems spoil the spirit of the pieces and make the reader resent the author. The poems are rather sophomoric at best, and are poorly written. Most of them make no sense; you would have to be inside Ms. Walker's head to comprehend her contorted style. It appears that Ms. Walker should re-enroll in a college level poetry class. THIS BOOK IS TRASH. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PIECE OF JUNK--I TOOK MY COPY BACK AFTER 24 HOURS.
