Summary: Haunting Voice
Review: Amanda Davis' book with it's haunting voice of the fat girl will keep you curled up on the couch wanting to read more. I think everybody has an inner voice whether it's the" fat girl", the "ugly girl" or the just plain "nobody" that haunts them sometime in their life. I think it's a shame to loose Amanda Davis, with all her potential, so soon. The circus backdrop with its colourful carnie folks and the way Miss Davis writes from the view point of a 15 year old girl really make you feel a part of the story. Its a coming of age story in an age of uncertainty.

Summary: A TEEN-AGER WHO GETS INSTRUCTIONS FROM HER ALTER-EGO
Review: Faith Duckle is the main character and "the fat girl" is her alter-ego. No one ever sees the fat girl, but she is a main force in the story. I have a tough time with many novels, but this one I enjoyed all the way through. A young teen aged girl, not socially acceptable, has many problems with most everyone including her mother. Half way through the book she earns stability through her own efforts after hooking up with a circus. You could certainly say that Faith is a mixed up kid and in the end she is an excited, accepted young lady. A good read.

Summary: Definite "Do-Not-Miss"
Review: I finally picked up this book when it came out in paperback. I wish I wouldn't have waited so long! Amanda Davis conveys more in a paragraph than others do in entire novels. The book is engrossing from the first few pages and has left me captivated long after the end. Rarely do characters capture my imagination more than the ones in this novel. The author's richly addicting story creates entire worlds-within-worlds where anything is possible. I highly recommend this book to those who like coming-of-age stories, and also to anyone who has an appreciation for beautifully-rendered prose.

Summary: Unforgettable
Review: I used Unforgettable as the title of my review because this one word is used on the cover of the movie Elephant which was an incredible movie just as this is an incredible book. I looked forward each night to read this book and to continue on with its journey which fasinated me the whole time. Some felt opposed to the ending of how some situations seemed unfinished but thats the whole idea really..her new found confidence clarified those situations and what would become of them. Wow..amazing book, amazing author (r.i.p) and I reccommend everyone of every type to read this remarkable book.

Summary: very dissappointing.............
Review: I was expecting this to be a fantastic book after reading some of these reviews. I found this book to be a real struggle to get through. It started off quite well but soon became quite boring. There were still so many unresolved issues in Faith's life by the end of the book that it really left you hanging. It shocked me when she revealed that she had not told anyone about the Homecoming incident. I just don't think that is realistic after what she went through. I would not recommend this book.

Summary: Don't Miss "Wonder When You'll Miss Me"
Review: In this brave and honest novel, Amanda Davis exposes the underbelly of the all-American obsession with popularity. Faith Buckle, overweight and lacking in high-school popularity, pays a horrible price for that crime; this will eventually land her in the circus. In less sure hands, this material could devolve into the land of 'just another American girl interrupted story.' But that's not what happens here. Ms. Davis's work is so consistently sensitive, funny, sad and occasionally horrifying - always nailing the appropriate emotional mark - that readers will read this book rooting for its unusual heroine, while at the same time rooting for the author to write more books.

Summary: The Voice of the Fat Girl
Review: Read it and you'll see why it was the winner. It's smart, poignant, original, funny. And the ending is great. I don't know what those reviewers are talking about, but don't want to ruin it for others, so that's all I can say. More info and reviews here: http://wonderwhenyoullmissme.com/

Summary: Tender, Uplifiting Book about Choices
Review: Tragedy, yes, but even better, Wonder When You'll Miss Me, is a coming of age story that is tender and uplifting as well. This story pushed at those last remaining teenage buttons my old body still has, buried deep inside. I felt for the characters, I loved the circus story, and I loved the ending. Life is about choices, and Faith didn't fail us there.

Summary: Wonder When You'll Miss Me
Review: Wonder When You'll Miss Me is a book that is different from others. I picked it up off the shelf at my school's library because it looked like it might be interesting, and as I read more about it, the book sounded like something that would interest me. The main character is fifteen-year-old Faith, who is an ex-fat girl. She was very overweight her entire childhood and after being assaulted, spent time in a hospital and lost enough weight to make her thin. However, when she returns home she is haunted by the ghost of her former self, referred to throughout the book as "the fat girl". The fat girl is with her all the time in spirit, and this annoys Faith. She wants nothing to do with her old life or things that remind her of her old self. The closeness of home is too much for her, so after meeting a busboy that she has an interesting link to from her past, she runs away with the circus that he is part of and starts a new life with a fresh identity. What Faith doesn't realize, however, is that in running away from her problems at home, what she is really doing is finding herself in all of the mess. Over the course of months, Faith is on a journey to sanity and well-being within herself. Wonder When You'll Miss Me is a really good and touching book about a girl's inner search for herself and although it is much different than I thought it would be when I checked it out, I enjoyed it and would recommend it, especially to teenage girls who are somehow trying to find themselves. All in all, Wonder When You'll Miss me is an enjoyable and well-written book.
