Rating: Summary: Clean Writing, Captivating Romance Review: Great book by newcomer Georgia Beers. The characters of Melanie and Taylor are fully realized and compelling enough to cause me to read this in one sitting. I liked that the story took place over a period of time--and after some angst and indecision, especially on the part of Taylor. MJ Lowe has written a thorough review below, and I don't want to repeat her already insightful comments. I'll just add two points: 1) the writing style is excellent in a very well edited book; and 2) it's great to see sexy but realistic love scenes. I highly recommend this one. It rates right up there with TROPICAL STORM by Melissa Good, NONE SO BLIND by LJ Maas, and MIRRORS by Marianne K Martin.
Rating: Summary: enjoyable Review: i enjoyed this book. i finished it in two nights purely based on the fact that i didnt want to put it down.
Rating: Summary: georgia is a gem Review: I loved this book! Melanie and Taylor captured my interest right from the beginning, and held it the entire way through, as I read it from cover to cover in one sitting. Beers has a way with her words that allow you to slip out of time and into the story. Her descriptions, language and the development of the characters are all top form. I loved Beers choice of characters for Taylors 'competition'... different to say the least. The way she handled Melanies struggles with her feelings was excellent and the whole story was very realistic and believable. I eagerly await her next novel, especially if it were to be a sequel to this one. This is definitely one I consider worth hanging onto to read again in the future.
Rating: Summary: Been There Review: Like many of the others, I do not want to repeat any of the previous reviews. It's a wonderful story and a quick read. I could not put this book down! I read the book in less than 24 hours. In fact, I am half way through my second time around. The characters are VERY sweet and believeable! I HIGHLY recommend this book! Can't wait to here more from Georgia Beers!
Rating: Summary: Very Disappointing... Review: Reading Turning the Page by Georgia Beers was like reading very mediocre fan-fiction. The main character, Mary Sue - I mean Melanie is beautiful and giving and perfect and EVERYBODY loves her. And I do mean everybody. (I am giving nothing away that you can't get from the information on the back of the book - so, spoiler-free) The love interest, Taylor falls for her immediately (of course) as does Taylor's recently widowed father (of course). The stereotypical, earth mother, lesbian-next-door becomes her mentor and takes her under her wing immediately (of course) and on her first trip to a gay bar a gorgeous woman buys our shy, beautiful Mary Sue a drink (of course). Throw in Taylor's bitchy ex, Melanie's selfish cousin for some angst and WAY too many pop culture references (including a semi-obsession with Xena) and there you have it - second-rate fanfic - except it's with characters you don't know and don't care about.

Rating: Summary: great read Review: There are already several reviews for this book, so I won't rehash the story. Suffice to say, this new author has a ton of talent and a flair for capturing real life. I'm ready for another book by Ms. Beers!
Rating: Summary: not worth the money Review: There's a shortage of good lesbian authors, so I won't be too harsh on Ms. Beers, but this book is really not worth the money. Her writing style, while not horrible, is rather amateurish and it's understandable why this book wasn't published by one of the major houses. I don't regret spending the money this time; I'm supporting the lesbian community, after all. But in the future I will stick with authors who've proven themselves worthy of my time: Nicola Griffith, Jeanette Winterson, Rita Mae Brown, et al.
